another idea but you will need to remove the cam,is a slight variation on what gerry suggested which i use to great effect

is get a strip of say 2mm flat x20mm wide x150mm long drill a hole in one end (if the bolt is protruding the same size if it

is flush fractionally smaller ) and hold it flat over the bolt and drop a tack weld onto the two , you do need to be careful you don't weld the bolt to the cam , this method works best if the bolt is not quite flush and not enough to get grips on, it will also
help if you get a rusty bolt elsewhere as the tack will give the bolt a little localised heat which is often enough for them to come out.

You'll all be pleased to know Jay has been let out of the doghouse following him shearing my camshaft bolt as he fixed it with an easy out. I have also been teaching him to read and understand I have a CIH engine not an OHC so if I ever him give a haynes manual again he might find the right page!!!!! Good job I love him [:D][:D]

Have pretty much got her reassembled now head on, have filled her with some nice new oil, new oil filter, leads, dizzy cap. spark plugs and rotor arm. Had bit of a tidy up with the cabling under the bonnet. Just got to get the thermostat housing on which is causing small issue as due to the carbs the original housing won't fit without some kind of adaptor plate which goingto have to make tomorrow, then fit red pipes, fill up with water & antifreeze and that should be it.
Tomorrow night is going to be the real test will she or won't she start. Really hope all this not in vain and she goes but we will have to see.[:)]

She's all back together now, and bar one small water leak which should be a fairly easy fix all looks good. :woohoo:

And yes even though little late did have to try and fire her up and see if she would start and.....................

She didn't start. She was turning over but wouldn't run. So checked for spark which was all present but I noticed the plug was dry, so primed carbs a bit more and tried her again and....................

WE HAVE LIFT OFF, only for bout 20 secs with a little bit of throttle but still she started :patself:

She still appears to be running bit rough but she was cold (no choke fitted on carbs!!). Will check compression tomorrow and set the tappets up etc and see how we go from there you never know you may hear the sound of a lovely manta engine running.
