Andy
Yes, there is a R1 engine conversion, but it's the insurance that'll kill me, a bike engine car, with an electronic reverse puts it straight into the V8 catagory :x

Those pictures are funny! Your alternator is the same size as half of your engine!!

You got quite a knowledge on the minis then mate, if so i have a few questions as a guy at work wants to build a bike engined mini on the cheap.
How much can he get a bare mini shell and chassis?
Do you think a solid rear axle would be driveable on the track?

I love this thread.

Mini engines (in fact Minis in general) are a work of art. Simplicity at its finist but great for cause and effect type tuning. Air = Power.

Glad the engine and rings were ok - it is nasty if the rings go as it means a rebore and depending on the meat left on the block, it could be so much more.

Please keep going with the A series engine in there as long as you can - when I was stripping, porting and building these things were so much less complicated. I cant wait to actually see it in the flesh.... are you at the next meet?

Cheers Duncan :D i will be sticking with the A-series for a while yet  future plans are to definatley get a 1380 in there instead 8)

It was a stroke of luck with those rings, it just goes to show how strong these old engines are!
