Japfest 2 Donnington
Japfest 1 Castle combe
UFC
Trax
RS National Day
Goodwood
JAE
TOTB

In my eyes the above events are like chalk and cheese?! They are all so different! JAE is a meet that in my eyes, anyone whos anyone worth mentioning on the "scene" attends!! Look at all the clubs that go, they have some amazing cars and someone saying earlier that 99% of them are rubbish is rediculous as a lot of people from this forum were more than likely there, i know i was! Its a good publicity tool, a way of getting in the magazines as all the Jap mags are in attendance and ts a way of showing Europe (as its marketted as the biggest event in Europe) what we can bring to the table!!

I know some people are worried that an event like this would cause a division and it would definately not be intended, i think its great when someone turns up in a different manufactured car to a track day other than a Jap car because its rare now. Not meaning to point out the obvious but look through any thread and scroll down the left hand side looking at the Avatars, Jap cars are such a big part of the "scene" now and to miss JAE would be a big shame, its huge fun and a great opertunity for a club to get together and share some stories.

Events like Japfest and TOTB are vastly different from JAE but equally as fun and im sure many people on the site will be in attendance for competitive reasons and not just to socialise.

USC/TRAX - Leave these for max power to attend!! I may go to USC but only to check out the women and its an excuse for a good pi$$up, hardly even looked at the strip/cars in attendance last year

Just my 2cents!! :P

JAE is certainly show and shine material but to have a stand means far more than to buff your motors, it gives you all a chance to meet, make friends and in all honesty get pee'd with car lovers such as yourselves and build bonds. 8) Anyone who went last year who ventured over to the 200sx stand to see there tyre changing challange will know what I mean! Not every event needs to mean burning rubber, on any scale you would get bored even burning round the nurburgring (even if it took you 20 years) possers united I say!

It's ok Woody, you can say 'pissed' on here :)

Two points;

If we, BigPower, cannot attend as a club with all cars and all owners welcomed we won't attend as a club, end of. There are loads of people that use this site, that will continue to go anyway with other forums or clubs, so no big deal there. As a club we can't very well turnaround and expect nearly half of the users to be left behind.

Secondly, I'll never tire of the Nurburgring and I honestly think if you ask anyone who's gone AND driven, they'll say the same. You are right though, not all events have to include burning rubber. I just can't think of many that I would attend that don't ;)

social events are always good fun (im my experience).
one of the best events was an informal camping and BBQ in a field a few years ago with the GT4OC.

JAE is purely jap cars, so there will be no BP club stand. im sure lots of people will know about BP by then anyway...although do we want to advertise our presence too loudly (i'll leave you to figure that out!)?

i really like what we have here, a fairly excluside club with strict rules, great organisation, lots of racing type events coming up and a much needed "no bullshit" rule. :D

ps the nurburgring rocks, it's just SO demanding to drive and absolutely brilliant. the only comparison is with a rollercoaster, but one that's 11 miles long and goes over 140mph :)

thats the end of my wibble...although my final point does agree with what stuart just said - those of us who wish to attend JAE are very likely to be members of a car club which is already represented and so arent going to miss out on the show anyway.

Just my two-penneth............

Andy's summed it up nicely. I've been to JAE for the past three years with Scoobycity, and thoroughly enjoyed each event, and will be back there again this year.

As has said, the "J" in JAE stands for Japanese, and it's for those cars it's been created. You wouldn't expect a load of Subaru's to be able to attend the French Car Show for example, so a large group of the members here would not be able to park their cars in the "show" area. And it's not what I'd call a Bigpower event (and this isn't because it doesn't meet any perceived "standards"). It's purely a social event - one big party in effect - and the cars are almost a side-issue. This strikes me as being contrary to what Bigpower was set up for - an interest in track action. This is a great place to be, for those particular interests. Other clubs exist which cater for the other aspects of car ownership and enjoyment. It's all about playing to your own strengths and values.
