tyre pressures
Gerry due to my nightmare start I forgot to take my guage and tyre inflator so ahvent the foggiest what I was running. Id assume around the 28 psi mark but who knows :? . suspension is still the konis but may be getting some bc's next week. I know there a little hard but the car does only do about 6k a year including track work etc.
Presumably you have your reasons for changing the suspension Please don't do anything based on my comment, it's just an observation.garetgax wrote:So you reckon me swapping them would be a good option then?
Handle every stressful situation like a dog. If you can't eat it or hump it, piss on it and walk away!
wasnt going to gerry but its alwaysa good to have opinions/obvservations. main reason was to freshen the car up and to give me long term adjustability as i get better/learn more. Also do wonder if the majority of my class have decent suspension if im losing out through less grip. The bc's are less than 600 notes and ill re-coup a bit form my konis and eibach springs so thought it might be a decent investment.
Graham, the 'modified' class allows any road legal tyre, does it not? So Andy F and others will be running 888's and the like, which are in a different league to your ordinary road tyres. A spare set of rims with 888's would be a big step towards being competitive in that class. The stickier tyres will make greater demands of the suspension so the BCs might be worth a try, although I'd try to find double that amount and get KW v3's if it were me.
Andy I did toy with getting v3's but tbh they would be wasted on me. Having talked it through there is a big diff to me swapping to the br's and less of a benefit for the extra 6-700 to get the v3's. Im still trying to find a decent set of rims to run 888's but whilst there are loads of newage rims out there there arent many classic rims that'll clear the ap's. I dont want to have the arches rolled so I'll keep looking etc.
Ive ordered some BC BR's today with the 6/5 springs but not getting them fitted till the end of july. Then its a trip down to zen for the geo to be done.
Your spot on with the big adv half the field have in running 888's add to that a lot are type r's or ra's so there lighter and have dccd it does make it more difficult. My target for next round is to beat a few that are just above me so thats 1-1.5 seconds faster than I am now which I think with my approach gradually improving and probably a better set-up via the coilovers I'm hoping may well be achievable.

Ah-ha, rims to clear APs...
I fitted a set of AP CP5200's (4-pot) at the weekend, with 326mm Brembo disks. With Rota PFF7 replicas they *just* clear. With my Rays TE37 I need a 10mm spacer, which will probably lead to arch clearance problems. Am thinking of getting custom bells to bring the disk in by 5mm (and removing shims on caliper bracket) and using 5mm spacer with the Rays - they're such good wheels I'm determined to keep them!
