I think as far as trackdays/evenings go, there surely can not be too many that work as well as it did on tuesday evening.

I think the sessions worked very well as the "novice" group were able to find their own way around and settle into their own rythm and the faster guys were able ( in the most part) to get out there and have some fun without "too much" of a problem with being held up.

It was quite interesting to watch "from the sidelines" so to speak. the main thing I noticed which I was comparing to other track days etc that I have done/seen were that the 20 minute sessions were about as long as most people stay out for even on open pitlane events. 20 minute run---20 minutes to let the car and driver cool down and chance to use the loo/ have a ciggie/drink etc, then get back out on the track.

I think 3 groups would be a bit too much for an evening event and possibly even a full day as I have noticed that people don't seem to want to stay off track for too long between and after 20 minutes they are keen to get out there again.

The events that seem to work quite well are the sessioned first part and then open pitlane to end up on, as was done on tuesday night.

I know I have waffled on a bit but I suppose I am using it as a substitute for actually being able to get out there and do it. :( ;)

A valued observation Nick, sums up the whys and wherfores of the alternative TD structures, Tuesday was a sucsess because the planning was good, driver discipline in the main was good and there was very little time lost due to on track incidents.

I am sure that the debate has a long way to run but I still prefer OP but the format on Tuesday suited the event perfectly

Someone say "holy thread revival"

I haven't taken part in a BP track day yet but my experience of you guys so far make me
think it will be a great day/evening and everyone will be as good natured as they should be in that kind of enviroment.

The three I have done at Snetterton with Javelin and others have taught me that
a. my car isnt as fast as I thought it was (bits its fast enough for me for the moment)
b. my control of the car isn't as good as I had hoped it was (I aim to improve that)
c. "Track Awareness" and a sensible attitude are the most important things to take with you
d. Brakes upgrades aren't cheap

From my own point of view, sessioned are good provided there are only two groups.
I did one day with three groups (2 cars and bikes) and there were times when I was getting frustrated
about not being able to get out there.

Sessions also mean I dont have to worry too much about getting in the way of someone like Duncan
(which I did once and was staggered at the difference in power and driving ability between us)

Looking forward to doing one with BP in the near future
Spencer.
