Well.....

Nik dropped them off today and they were well behaved if a bit excitable. I really felt for Nik while he had a couple of mins with them on his own before he left. What an effing crap situation for him to be in but he's left them with people that will love them as much as he has. Under the circumstances it's the best possible outcome for Alfie, Kat, Nik and myself.

They are great dogs and i enjoy being with them.

End of the first day and i think they have settled better than i expected. Maybe they think they are just here for a holiday and will put up with Hazel and i for just a while, who knows, but it all went pretty well. We have a piano in the dining room so i played them a little Chopin and they seemed to enjoy it. These two characters have great taste

Took them out for a good long haul to the woods just up the road from me to make sure they were well knackered out for this evening, and it seems to have worked a treat. On the way back home we had to cross a small brook to get to the main road. Everyone eventually jumped across without a problem. It was only a few inches deep so i thought i would walk across but i didn't bank on it being so slippery and of course i fell in. The moss on the concrete floor was slipperier than black ice. I was soaked and dripped and sloshed all the way home with a hysterical Hazel in tow. What a plonka!! Water was bloody freezing too!!

They've had lots of doggy treats and a pretty full day and so have i :D Tomorrow morning i'm up with the dawn chorus and taking them out for a good walk before i get on with my day and a certain WRX wagon that's having it's wiring stripped out.

Alfie and Kat will be good for us. The last year i have given up on being healthy. I haven't used my Gym in the garage or the bikes on Turbo trainers for a long time so i'm hoping getting up in the mornings and doing doggy walkies will get us back on the right track. I'm so overweight it's affecting my health.

Thanks to everyone for their kind words and encouragement in this undertaking, and thanks to Nik for his trust.

I am glad they seem to be settling in well. I think they will love it with you guys. :) I forgot to mention that they like piano music. Sarah used to play alot and they would sit and watch intently :D

Thank you for your patience with me when I was saying goodbye to them.

I bet the towns folk of Northampton wondered what was going on when they saw a roughty toughty bloke with a mohican driving a big butch black truck, blubbing like a little girl who had lost her favourite dolly :D

Once again, thank you so much Francis and Hazel for giving them a wonderful home and the love that they deserve. It has certainly put our mind at ease.
I may be getting older but I REFUSE to grow up :D

Sounds great Francis. I've been on a 'two walks a day' regime for eleven years now and have missed very few. The only times I've missed are on the occasions I have had to work away. It's kept even me from totally vegetating :D

Chopin eh? Obviously dogs of discerning taste :D
