Don't worry chap. First run I ever did in my Civic Type-R I clocked exactly 197bhp.siR_tom wrote:Like I said before, it was just the initial shock of like wtf! How can my car be that underpowered. But now I've just relaxed in the knowledge that it does still is pretty nippy for a baby 1.6 na.
Put a Simota Cold Air Induction open cone filter (Guaranteed to release 4bhp) and lost 7bhp due to heatsoak from the engine bay.

Ordered up a Mugen CAI which pushed the bhp up to 208.

Added a Magnaflow Exhaust system, which was guaranteed to release another 10bhp. Even spoke to the UK importer to make sure this wasn't just marketing hype and actually did increase the bhp by letting the exhause gasses out quicker etc......
Well surprise ... !! The Civic-R got 196bhp. :x Bye Bye exhaust.
Moral of the story
The good thing about the Rolling Road is it gives you a place to start. Get a stock figure for your car. Add something and then RR it again. If it doesn't work, bin it. If it works run with it.
plus reset your ECU each time after every modification.

It's not underpowered if it keeps up with similar modded cars. My CTR "only" made 250bhp on the APT dyno but did a 1/4 mile run a little bit quicker than other CTRs did with the same mods, even though they had another apparent 50bhp on mine.siR_tom wrote:Like I said before, it was just the initial shock of like wtf! BTW you're flogging a dead horse trying to mod an NA honda engine, k20 or bolt a blower on to make a decent power hike.
