one week into ownership and the engine is OUT... :D:D In fact the new one would have gone back in yesterday if they had sent me a coupe engine... Its an 820 turbo engine so had to strip it down to change an engine mount.... but without any gasket/sealant i decided to hold fire until i have sorted that...

Still never took any pics tho... Wasn't allowed to touch the camera with dirty hands...

Hopefully get the few problems sorted also, powersteering pipe has broken altho think this may have been modified previously, so i will have to do something there.. For some strange reason there is a spare hub/driveshaft in the boot of the car also.. :?: im thinking maybe there is a problem with them so might even swap while its in pieces...

Other than that tho its all plodding along nicely... :-D Just need to attack the engine bay with some degreaser as it is covered in oil/power steering fluid...

if i get a chance maybe some dark pics tonight... 8)

i nearly bought one of them some years back but opted for a calibra instead
but the coupe still looks a nice car to this day
there is one near mine with a subtle kit on it and it looks really nice

as you have fitted the 820 engine did you change the oil pump and sump over from the 200 one. As the 200's have a shallow sump and an oil cooler at the back of the block but the 600/800 series has a deeper sump and no oil cooler. If it is for track i would recomend fitting the shallow sump and an oil cooler that would mean changineing the oil pump if not you may find the sump hits your bed and you stand more chance in damageing it as a deed sump sits very low on a 200 series

I have a nice big front mount for a 200 if you are interested :-D and 3 T16 turbo cylinder heads and a tomcat motorsport block sevral cranks i just have loads of engine spares for a T16 even though i got rid of mine ages ago.

And if you need a PG1 gearbox done give me a shout ill look after you on price and provideing it is good condition inside if you drop it of then go for a wounder round our city for a couple of hours or wait its upto you i can do them in around 2 hours .

And the question you asked on page 1 is the 600 engine the same as a 200 one yes but there are a few differences

the 600 is most comonly waisted spark if from a later model so it wont have a dizzy or a cam sensor and you can not fit a dizzy to waisted spark camshafts as they do not have the post for the rotor arm but swapping the cams for 220 turbo ones will sort that out. And the sump and oil cooler as mentioned above.

If you need any advice or help give me a shout i know a T16 like the back of my hand :-D

Well first things first... It runs... :-D

On the down side... the engine is leaking oil when cold.. :x once warm its fine.. Also gotta sort a water leak from the pump housing. Probably why it died first time around..
The engine came from a breakers in yorkshire, should i contact them or just change the head gasket?? TBH it will cost me the carriage as always to get it sorted so thinking to hell with it....

Anyway. Nope never swapped the sump over as didnt seem much different... :? will double check but dont think it has the oil cooler either..
Will look tonight as its still up on axle stands.

I still have the old engine so am tempted to build a good engine from that. maybe something for 300HP..

Also will see how the G/B is and maybe give you a shout... :D

I would have gone with the old engine from the start!

Anyways, as its out and easy to work on and your in no rush why not change the headgasket on it, get it skimmed and put the head back on? As i said before nice new cambelt to not worry about and you can give it some stick round the track! Cheaper option from the start..

Ring up the company you bought it from and ask for a refund and send it back because the better engine is sitting on the floor!

Up to mate obviously but just seems like a lot of unnecessay work to me and money?

The trouble with the old engine was that its had such a major overheat i didnt want to risk spending a wedge of cash for it to be useless... yeah so the new/used engine aint perfect BUT having spoken to the breakers they will pay for ALL the head gasket components... i just have to do the work. Cant get fairer than that.. otherwise means removing the engine again and shipping back to them.. aint doing that again just yet... Then i still have the old engine to play with.. Am probably gonna just throw a head gasket on this engine so its useable and really hit the old engine.. Better pistons etc so hopefully it will take around the 300 mark... hopefully...
