Just rang up again....they had got my email correct but couldnt see if it had been sent out or not. Told them it hadnt and that I was getting a bit fed up because I wanted it fixed by was nice about it as I am not an angry person and I dont shout down the phone at people because I have worked in a phone environment and know that if you do that it doesnt get you anywhere.

Was told that it was gonna be referred to supervisors because of the problems I have had but they arent in today (fair enough) so if I havent heard anything by monday evening I have to ring them again and they will book another job for this.

To which I asked but does that mean I will go to the back of the queue and explained that it wasnt my fault the phone monkey got my email wrong. The guy said it would be something I would have to tell the person on monday. So in other words....yes it'll go to the back of the queue.

Nice eh !!!!

Therefore when I get my console back and it goes again (gonna try putting in a different place and vertical rather than horizontal) I am gonna get it repaired again and then trade it in for a ps3. Just disillusioned by the whole 360 console - Microsoft - Customer experience !!

Mate that's bad news. Mine's been fine so far (thanks Stu (& Tracy!)) under fairly heavy use but from time to time has hung a bit... Mine is vertical with plenty of space around it so hopefully it will stay cool enough.

Don't know if a PS3 will run any cooler/quieter though unless anyone can enlighten me?

Cheers,
Alex

I have a generator that I've borrowed from JC that is quieter than my 360. Kind of part of the character of the console though, it makes me feel like it's trying harder to entertain me :)

damn gareth you really have no luck with customer services :(
the thing that really annoys me about the 360 is just how damn loud the dvd drive is. i wish there was a way to make it spin slower to reduce the amount of noise but noooooooo

I think that Microsoft are putting in Hitachi drives which are quieter.

But I think the fans in the console make most of the noise as when I use the hd-dvd drive it still makes the same amount of noise from the console. The hd-drive is very quiet though !!

Well an update,

Got told on sat that if I hadnt got anything by mon night then I should ring again....4th phonecall tonight !!!!

Got through to a chap and explained the situation yet again.

They have to generate a new service request but couldnt give me the number as it would be raised in the morning because it cant be done now. A courier will drop off the label needed as they cant seem to email me it and then I can arrange collection.

But it will take 3 working days. They said to ring again on fri night if it hasnt come. I tell you if it doesnt I will be livid !!!!!!! Fingers crossed !

I did say could I have the new ref number or will it be attached to the old one and was told no I couldnt but my details will apparently be on the system and there will be a record of it. The person wasnt able to answer why they couldnt find the first time I rang up with the problem with the old console !!!!!!

My xbox 360 experience has been like this so far....

:D  :) :? :( :x

Anymore and I feel like writing to 'Which' magazine lol
