Shit a brick Rob:willy_nilly:. Glad both you and the car are alright. Get them tyres changed asap mate. I made the same mistake many years ago, loads of tread on the tyres but shitn in the wet. I ended up rolling my Manta GTE.
Just glad you're ok:thumbs:

Fitted the same tyres onto Tan's MX5 Rob. Nice tyres and bloody cheap.

Glad you're OK. Sierra's can be a bit quick to step out if you're not concentrating and tolerances are slim. Stay safe

Blimey Rob they look pretty cheap for a branded tyre. Good work.

If they were fitted to the MX5 they must be good ;)

Bloody hell that was lucky Rob!
Now i expect someone will put me right, But i think that age can be as big a problem with tyres as wear. The continentals that i had on the scoob were fine through the summer when i had been tracking it. Then i parked it up over winter and could not belive how they had gone so hard by the next spring. Infact they were bloody dangerous to the point i thought something had happened to the car!
I bet after the initial shock of what had just happened you were counting your blessings that the road was empty?
I am realy pleased that the ol gal survived un-harmed.:)

Well I made it into work tonight unharmed!
Thanks to Dave getting me some 1/2 decent tyres in record time, my car now has some new boots.
On a note of interests for fellow anoraks, one of the suspiciously old looking Pirrelli's had Ford embossed balance weights on the rim, raising the question old just old was that tyre?
Anyway, it is quieter, and has so far not tried to kill me at the first sight of a corner, so it's all good!

Certainly can, tyres have a 6 year shelf life and ideally should be replaced after that. If in doubt, almost all tyres have a date stamp on the sidewall. Week/year.
