Awesome trip(s) thanks pal, just posted some pics from the F1..

Ref X works, they're (he) is the best kept secret. Really top guy, has done some awesome stuff for various motorsport teams and also does development fabrication work for manufacturers like Nissan, Bentley etc. You may have heard of him though, he's doing all the fabrication for the really extreme GTRs from GTR/co/uk - Neilo on the forum is one of them, who are (when finished) racing with Ron K..?

He also did the bespoke cage for the disco so I have first hand experience of his work.

Whats this about a new beast coming your way? or did i miss the thread....?

Oh, meant to say, should you be interested that yes I did do my research and thats why I went with Steve. I was going to get a t45 custom cages cage on the recomendation of daz as he has one in the Scooby. However, having spoken to them several times it turns out that the t45 cage for the GTR is no lighter than CDS, as to use the thinner tubing to get the weight benefit they have to spend thousands on homoligation which isn't cost effective for them unless it's big numbers, or for a one make series or something... so, a useful tip as I nearly just bought one expecting it to save me weight

So another belated updated, although this time because progress has been slow rather than me not bothering :toetap05:

Picked the car up on saturday with the cage all finished, new rear bulkhead made up and front tow eye done.

I'm really pleased with the cage, great job and plenty of head space compared to the Zed in terms of not having my lid resting against it constantly. Steve managed to get the front of the cage down the sides of the dash so didn't even have to chop the dash up which is cool. Saying that, it does press against the doors making them v hard to shut, although I'm going to chop the doors out to get the weight down so this should be a temporary annoyance.

Unfortunately dud to time the rear arches weren't done so that's a job still to do, but as this doesn't stop me getting on track i don't really care.

Some pics, although hard to show anything really.

Tow eye, gotta paint it

I've also made a decision on the ECU front. I'm going to bin the Power FC as I think it's shit for what i want, I've also sold the Motec and am going to pout a Syvecs on it as I know a few people who run these and really rate them, plus it's likely that I'll have some "support" on hand with this when i'm running the car. I think it makes sense and now I've come to the decision i'm feeling quite pleased as it's it's been bugging me.

Also bought some 1000cc injectors as car was maxing the 800s out at not much more that 1.3 bar

So jobs left to do:

Another coat of paint on the cage
Paint the rear bulkhead
Fit new 1000cc Injectors
New ECU and Remap
Wheel Allignment Settings
Track day/evening to see if oil pressure issues are solved
Vent the bonnet
Cut the door innards out

Then hopefulyy lots of track time

Have also decided to have a union jack vynled onto the roof :D

Cheers guys - is there a way of blocking ben from GTR threads ;)

Yeah well we'll see, it;s track only so will be loads of other stickers going on, and if it looks rubbish can peel it all off again :sifone:

I'm ok - I can cope with looking at GTR's .. I'm now looking for a 1970's Celica :) .. and happen to have found a yellow one two roads away - now to try to persuade the old dear to sell it to me
