Spot on Sir Black

Had a long chat with the powers that be tonight, a real long chat and we made some good progress re: 2009

I will be able to announce provisional dates for next years calendar very soon :)

Essentially, the more feedback that you guys give me the better. By 'you guys' I mean those that are sprinting, those that have sprinted and those that may be interested for next year. This is a bloody good opportunity to build something that YOU want to be a part of. Speak up......

Nice work StuartMiester!

Yup, I hope this gets a few more BP members dipping their toes into competitive motorsport.

At the end of the date the upfront outlay for getting into is a pitance compared to what a lot of peeps on here spend on modding their cars!

As all of the guys who have done thsi before have said, you can't beat that buzz of being against the clock......its very addictive!

As Cadwell and Brands are indimidating tracks if your new to teh sport, whereas an airfiled event is less daunting and allows you to learn the car easier without major fear of barriers etc.
I think 'virgin to sprinting' and 'newcomer' are in danger of being blurred into 'virgin newcomer.' Just because someone hasn't actually participated in a sprint doesn't mean they can't drive their car in a fast, yet safe and controlled manner. Everyone on here, is here because they want to participate in some form of off road driving and with the vast majority, having been on track already. All the tracks are daunting, in their own way, even North Weald for the first event. For a newcomer to any timed event, the adrenelin rush at the start line is intoxicating.

Therefore it's only a question of overcoming the 'cold feet' syndrome and actually entering the first event that's a consideration. As Stu discovered yesterday, by going round and chatting to various people at North Weald, many were on their first and second event and enjoying it. The big obstacle is the initial paperwork which may appear a little daunting to some. Although we may think it quite straightforward, for someone who doesn't know, it can appear something of a maze. I don't really know how we can do more to ease their minds and give them the little push to convince them it's easy.

When I did my first one, about three of years ago, I didn't know anyone there but surprisingly folk are very friendly and happy to chat. Now, with quite a large BP presence, life's even easier for the first timer. :D

Sat 08-Aug BARC Mids Sprint Nat B Curborough Long course (2 laps)
Sat 12-Sep 7 Oaks Sprint Nat A & B Cadwell Park
Sun 20-Sep HCC Sprint Nat B North Weald
Sat 24-Oct RMC Sprint Nat B Lydden

Having received the list of confirmed AEMC events for 2009. I have thinned it to include one of each venue with a view to spacing out the weekends from March to October. Not an easy task to reduce the list to 6 or 8 events. Although the preference has been expressed that 'cone' events should be excluded, I think that contrary, there should be one of each, at least, if only for the new guys to cut their teeth in a 'safe' environment plus, it's a less stressful event with no armco to worry about. Hence, seven of each (I've counted Curborough as a circuit course as that's essentially what it is).

yes i remember seeing him in the black porka .

i really dont see the problem in b3, if your 100k+ supercar is not up to the job then maybe you should think about getting a suitable car
i know i would like a go in the rs just to see what it can do

i have heard else where that he has been doing a lot of whinging lately.
its like he needs a class built around him so he can dominate it or am i being bitchy :-D :-D

Rollcages ... are they definitely mandatory for B class(es) next year?

On balance I 'm not keen on fitting one to my mostly-road Impreza.

Regarding striking a balance ... having a mix of airfields and proper circuits, and being able to drop 2-3 rounds for champ points, would allow a driver to skew their participation towards mostly airfield/circuit direction as desired, would it not?

Certainly looks that way from the outside Trev. A go in that RS Mmmmmmmmmmmm :D

How about, we suggest a class of just his car? We all use it and see who wins. I can guess who it won't be :D
