To be honest, you won't get tickety boo until you have a mappable ecu. IMO

Paul at Zen has a big hole in his workshop floor, ready for his RR to arrive soon. :) and he's only up the road from me :D

Trevor,

I guess Gerry didn't mention Detalarm so as not to come across as the salesman, but I'd recommend that over the Knocklink. I swapped my Knocklink for a Detalarm from Gerry as it's a smaller neater box and costs quite a bit less. Highly recommended.

boost solenoid and pipes all cleaned with carb cleaner and was oil in them so this may have solved the overboost (maybe) i have not tested it ,
next job of the day was to fit the walbro fuel pump, first thing i checked was the feed to the pump with a multimeter and this shows 4.36 volts, why am i not getting 12ish volts to it , i had my mrs turning the ignition on and off while i tested it as it shuts its self off after a short while so as not to flood the engine (cheers alyn for that info)
i have not yet fitted the pump or opened up the fuel tank ,i just feel stumped that im only getting this little power to it :x
anyone any ideas or where im going wrong
please

update:
fitted the new walbro pump and got 11.6v so im sure thats alright.
took the car out to see what its boosting like after cleaning boost solenoid and its still going straight up to 1.25 bar then settling straight away at 1 bar as it should be, its an improvement on the 1.4 bar it was hitting before going back to 1bar but still obviously not right ,so im now stumped and going to have to seek pro help and spend more bloody cash :x
could the lambda sensor be making it do this ?

what about the actuator (spetting)?

is that wearing out?

i remember on my old vf28, i was getting a fair bit of over boost after it was mapped, and it turned out to be this.

but surely that would just cover up the problem, could be the actuator i suppose , i give up on it i could not even be bothered to do the rear disks and pads this afternoon like i planned to.

Trev, my '95 would boost to 1.1 on standard ECU with its Magnex decat. Then I fitted panel filter and that was enough to let it boost further and hit fuel cut (earlier car has v.low fuel cut, something like 1.2bar). Reckon you just need remap. Cheap fix would be manual boost controller like Dawes device, but it sounds like from your other problems that it needs remap.

your probably right andy about the remap, dont think a boost controller would help as its hitting 1.25ish then holding 1 bar
