You may be able to dodge round the customs charges by declaring on the package that the engine is damaged goods being returned to the sender and then you may get away with the charges.

Given the value they might want to see the other half of the shipment, The commodity code given if you ring HMCE is a guess, you might be better off finding someone with the book to fin the correct Tariff code.. In all honesty if it were me I would seriously consider getting the work done in this country, maybe importing the parts?

Another note re the tariff code, if it were parts it could be considered a 'raw material' or part of something else that it 'can only be used with' its open to interpretation....its a bloody minefield :roll:

EDIT:- I have a copy of the 'Integrated Tariff of the United Kingdom' on CD (August 2003) but things don't really change much...only available if you want to be 'REALLY' bored

ANOTHER EDIT: Might be worth speaking to Big Phil .... he's into warehousing and distribution... might know a few contacts.

I also find that if you send items by the countries local post office like China post for instance they seem to skip charges, I have sent intercoolers from China to the Uk and no charge and they are big items. I`m giving all my secrets away......

I may be off track with what you are trying to do but if you are looking at putting a 3.0 in your Skyline then talk to Max1. We were at Santa Pod and he was talking to some Australian guys who have set up in business over here doing the swaps/conversions.

Mark was firing a lot of questions at them and they had all the answers, I'm sure he will remember who the company is
