this will just display a temperature of the air in the throttle body ie: 45 C etc...
The clock isnt a straght swap unfortunately - was thinking a little mount on the steering column would do it
depth of gauge = 25mm
Mount for 45 x 22 mm ACT gauge
Usually the yellow wire from the ignition, if Subaru wiring is pretty standard.dynamix wrote:hmmmm easier said than done for me323ian wrote:Just put the black one to a bolt on the dash somewhere and the red just needs putting into a switched live such as a wire from the ignition.
Have a fumble round with a multimeter.
Trying my hand at web design!!
another option with the wiring which is better is to install a switch. Take your own live from the fuse box or straight from the battery and include an inline fuse. Then run a live and earth from the switch to your Gizmo. Saves you hacking into your ignition. I am crap at electrics but can install a switch.

Just a word of caution
I purchased one of these after seeing it in a friends motor and thought it would be a good way to tell how the spray bar and nitrous were working as a coolant.
I tried to test it before installation by holding the wires on the battery terminals direct. The backlight of the gauge lit up but no temp reading.
I asked my mate about this and he said he had the same problem - he called the guy who sells them and he advised that they should run on 10v not 12v.
He rigged something up to drop the voltage and it works fine
Mine still sits in the top of my toolbox as I haven't got round to it yet, try it first before you install to see if you need to adjust the voltage in a similar way before cutting any holes or spending time and money on a mount
:-D

Driving a fast Jap import is like coming out of the closet, you might surprise some people, but in the end you are still gay.

I had the same problem. Howeva if you start the car and then switch it off then on again the gauge will work. I found the thermocouple to be very poor I still have it kicking about some where in my mountain of odd bits. i made the mount for mine.

The thermocouple I have is set into a little bolt that simply screws in beneath the throttle body and looks like it will do the job perfectly. I will need to take the intercooler off though to install - but that isnt much work i guess and I can cope with that.
The gauge def says 12V on it so that should be okay too.
I just not good at wiring this kinda stuff in
