So what is a quick detailer Gary and does the clay just take the muck off but does not take a layer of paint off?
I think it may be sap spots and they are a right pain!! :x
Cleaning help and advice
As Ben said it is what its called a bar of clay, using a section of this softened in the hand, moulded into a disc shape and rubbed lightly over the paintwork, every now and then mash up the clay and reshape this keeps all particles away from the paint.
The quick detailer is a lubricating fluid that you spray over a max of 2sq ft area and then the clay is rubbed, don't use clay without lub or you will risk damage to paintwork. If you run out of QD then a quick get by is extra strong mixed shampoo, but you do need to rewash afterwards. Use a microfiber cloth to wipe all residue of either QD or shampoo mix defore it dries and also to allow you to see how things are going.
The Clay doesn't remove paint (or should I say the stuff you can buy over the counter), rather grabbing all contaminats as it passes over them. For those who have not tried it, trust me if you can wash you car and then run your fingers over a panel (worst ones are horizontal) you may feel slight roughness, this is embedded contaminats, after the clay is used it'll feel like glass.

I do have one cleaning question - it's one area of the car that annoys me - the arches ... more specifically the insides.
I hate it when you've cleaned your car to a lovely shine - but then it's let down by the dirty arches. What tool is best and what product is best to clean them without removing the waxoyl (I do have some left
) ...
Is there a magic trick - I jacked the car up to clean them once but it's a lot of effort everytime you want to clean it.

LOL... know just what you mean Ben, it was a pity it rained on the way to the Ipswich meet, you'd have seen Stu's inner arches, nice and cleanmurano3 wrote:I do have one cleaning question - it's one area of the car that annoys me - the arches ... more specifically the insides.

Every job I do the arches get hit, and the process is as follows...
Spray inner arches etc with an Orange Zest degreaser (Zest) or an All Purpose Cleaner (APC), allow to soke for 5 mins then using a pressure washer wash all you can see and/or get to. If you don't have a pressure washer you will need to use a spray head on a hose and maybe a brush. Once clean get some plastic trim treatment preferably in a trigger sprayer and coat everything quite heavily. This will dry in an hour so ideally don't drive for a little while (why I do this right after washing), then everytime you wash the car just use hose/pressure washer to blast dirt off, as it doesn't stick very well to the trim treatment, every month or two another coating and you are sorted.
Oh I don't jack the car or anything, the soaking in cleaner, plus wash covers about 95% of everything under there, then the heavy coat of treatment also runs down covering bits again. All in all I spend about 20 mins to do the arches first time round then no more than 5 for all the rest of the washes.
