Got the Camaro another years MOT today and i still get nervous getting them done , the tester was surprized i,d only done 300 miles since the last one i was shocked that i have done so few miles its just not good enough . Ive cured the misfire it was a faulty PCV which i junked as it made the engine run lean ,also the ballast resister was bad a making the coil overheat so just need to get a new resister . Found out that the brake servo had too short a pushrod which was having to move 40mm before it worked the master cylinder so i made up a longer pushrod , iam amazed the brakes worked at all . Next on the list is to get the scooby MOTed i just need to fit a gasket to the down pipe for that . Got a new screen fitted for

Swopped an old fuel tank for this foam filled one to go in the Prefect . I did away with the old fuel cap and welded up the hole , less weight , blimey fuel cells and weight saving its all going a bit hard core . The scoobys passed its MOT so thats all done now and i will give it a go tomorrow as its a bit shitty out today . its the first turbo motor ive had so i cant wait to get some fuel in the tank and give it a blast up the A11 , it needs it because it took several attempts to pass the emission test having been off the road for 2 years . I wont to see how it compares to a V8 . Pete:Chevy_anim:

What do you mean about the brakes its got me worried now , i can see why you like these cars that turbo whistle is something you just want to keep hearing . Its got a TD5 turbo and the torque it makes is very V8 likeStuart wrote:I think you'll like the response of the Impreza with its small turbo and short gearing; very punchyWatch out for the brakes (unless your lad sorted them) and if the tail steps out do NOT lift. You have been warned

Been trying to find out why the Camaro has a misfire but iam not 100% sure its the dizzy so i thought i would check the wire loom . Its a real 42 year old birds nest with bits added / removed , taped up ends and wires going nowhere plus stuff hanging from under the dash . So armed with some cutters and a wiring diagram i spend an afternoon having great fun cutting out any unused wiring and i didnt just stop with the wire , out went speakers as theres no radio plus the under dash heating ducts as theres no heater . Out also went the center console which will give me room in future to fit a proper hand brake instead of the crappy foot operated cable thing that the MOT guy moans about every year . And here it all is

Having cut out all that stuff i decided to start the engine to see if removing all that junk wiring had any effect , it did , nothing worked so i had a quick look under the bonnet or hood if your American , and found i forgot to reconnect a battery wire . So bat wire connected , turned key got lights but no starter "shit" i spent the next 2 hours with a volt meter and wire diagram going over what i cut out and still no starter . Lying under the dash with a volt meter i noticed that the starter switch had slotted holes where it was bolted on to the steering column and i had just bolted it back up without checking . The switch works on a slider and if it isnt bolted on in the right place theres no contact , so with a bit of fiddling the thing started , great . Having spent the day in the garage i thought id go for a spin , so started the engine a gave it 5 minutes to warm up after which i noticed that the garage stank badly of petrol which with a 5 liter V8 sitting in ticking over is not unusual . With another quick snout under the bonnet and nearly over come by petrol fumes i found the the fuel pump was pumping petrol over the sump "fuck" , so i switched it off and decided to go inside for a cup of tea swearing and cursing that i will fix the sodding thing next week .
