I watched the satellite footage of the Cadwell Park MX5 championship the other night, certainly looked good fun.
I think this a great idea, but in the spirit of keeping the costs down, they must be standard, or certainly with very limited mods. I can see how trailering them would help reduce costs for some, I think the issue would be how people must play fairly, or it'll descend into a farce.(Never having competed, would these events automatically get scrutineers?)
I may well keep an eye on this, very similar in concept to the E30 (roof aside) and the PBMW series, and they get some brilliant group buy deals.
Good idea Gerry :D

PS I tried to fit into one of these years ago, and could nt even get behind the steering wheel. I don't know whether all the models are 'ickle, but this may pose problems for us larger bods.
I'll get in touch with someone in the championship, and enquire. (Brother-in-laws' father-in-law competes)

Trev, just say its the wifes!
It's the best way of deciding who are the better drivers and for the price of a decent turbo.

Thanks Rob. The idea is they're bog standard with just safety upgrades, cage, dampers, brakes. Engines are untouched, exhausts with OE. cats, no induction kits.

i do think its a really good idea all having a standard car , how about other marques as a thought ,
like for instance mk3 golf gti's as there super cheap aswell , mk2's would be the ideal but finding standard ones might be tricky , or fiesta xr2i's astra's ,e36 320i got me thinking now of something suitable
Small one's are more juicy

i don't know the time constraints on a sprint but why don't you just have one car . just chip in ex amount towards entry running costs over ex amount of rounds then it is just down to the individuals ability , may well attract people who would otherwise dismiss it through not being able to buy /prep/trailer/ another car .

tell me to sling my hook if i am talking crap :-D

cheers

I hope to have the money to be racing, door to door, in 2010. As much as I want to keep competing with you guys I'm pretty certain that I if I can afford to go the 'whole hog' that's what I'll do.

I love sprinting for so many reasons and if I cannot afford the above, I'd happily drive an MX5 assuming I can lower the seating position please Mr Houghton :D

Great idea Gerry

I think its an age thing Trev! Us thirty somethings that had a miss spent youth lusting after eighties hot hatches kinda miss the appeal of retro roadsters!- Harry and i have had many conversations about just this.
Brilliant idea though Gerry. And i totaly agree with the concept, but getting everyone to agree on one make will be hard work! - my vote would go on a clio 172! - well thats the plan :-D
