Ross - you will see what I mean about crowded sessions at Silverstone mate. Trying to wind your way through traffic to do a time or trying not to spoil someone's lap when you are cooling down for a lap.

not to be cynical or anything but its the usual story of the MLR taking over. Castle combe last weekends track time was dominated by the MLR tried my hardest to get just one session and failed.Asked on the MLR and got nothing for my troubles there. It was a little frustrating to see the same cars going out 4 or 5 times in a day. It would have been better to have had a class in between for private cars that want to see if TA is for them on a one off basis and for those with quick cars but not the resources to compete all year round whatever manufacturer their car is. Just my 2 penneth. Flame suit on and fire extinguisher at the ready :o

I think its fair to say the MLR have a presence at many events. But believe me Darin, Mechell & many volenteers (inc Liam) work their ass's off for the membership and it follows that the MLR probably have more competitive & social events than most other (single marque) clubs. Any one with any car can be a member to gain access to some cheap quality track time. No different to what Stu, Duncan & Ben are doing here IMO, all be it the membership is somewhat smaller in a 3yr old club 8)

As long as a bit of consideration goes into it, everyone is entitled to an opinion.

I was a little surprised to hear about this, but only because of its inclusion at such a late point. I obviously understand the point of introducing it in the two rounds that have no shows and no EDC, so technically, there is space for the drivers on track.

I'm sure the organisers will introduce a third class next year to ecompass people that slot between the full tuner class and the club class (Zak @ Mocom and Barrie @ DCY for two in my opinion) rather than resort to a forum based class. We already have one of those anyway ;)

garetgax not sure about Castle Combe was it pre paid sessions and you had no booking
But you make a valid point the MLR have a very good relationship and have pulled this deal with Time Attack but i can hear Clubs with drivers all screaming what about us and our cars. Seems Time attack may just get watered down with lots of classes.

I believe there should be 4 classes in TA:

pro
tuner (so they arent tempted to run in club)
club unlimited (anything goes if you can afford it)
club street (street legal and fully trimmed)

Being cynical, the MLR bit just seems to be a money making exercise to help pay for track hire.

yes it was pre-paid sessions but I couldnt get a booking and I wasnt the only one. The organisers are probably more to blame for not putting some restrictions on how many sessions one club or cars could have. Dont get me wrong the MLR has its place I was a member once  and nearly bought a 5/6 instead of the scoob but I'd be saying the same thing if it was the SIDC or GTIROC etc. If there is going to be an in between class it needs to be an open one not one that is driven by $$. just my opinion

Shame they havent got the classes right as they are before adding new stuff, but that's just me being picky :)
Yes, seems a little bit open to tuners running in club class.

I doubt I will do this unless there is a handicap of some sort as my measily hoursepower figure will get totally wasted if its open to mods like it is now. And also I wouldn't bother if it was all mixed in either, as 40-50 cars on track with major differences in speed and ability is a recipe for disaster in my eyes and I am amazed there hasnt been a major mutiple car shunt as yet. Also i can't believe you don't have to have a cage but can be running a seriously quick car, one than can be quicker than some proper racing cars :!:

Be interested to see what they come up with.

TBH I still don't really see the point of Club class unless you have an open cheque book because thats pretty much all it is, as if you haven't got 700bhp and all the trimming you won't win, unless its wet of course, the Tuner class is a different kettle of fish, it serves a purpose for the entrants with exposure and marketing!

Just my opinion of course, an fair play to all the club class entrants for getting out there and mixing it with the big boys!

Must agree, that was my thought but then again the TA series seems money driven anyway. A glamour sprint without the safety considerations.

Gerry - 2 questions...

1. why is doing 130 mph on a purpose built race track with gravel traps and safety barriers more unsafe than doing 130 mph on an old narrow banked circuit a few feet from trees (like longcross) ? both in un-caged cars.

2. why is
