So I'm guessing we are leaving it to the rich f***s to prevent global warming and save gas money? I love it how "they" incourage us to buy these hybrid cars, but who the hell can afford them?!

I disagree - these electric cars are downright dangerous !!!!!

How many small children, old people, blind people and cyclists must die before we realise that noisey cars are safer? I personally prefer the added safety afforded by driving a car that not only people can hear coming but they can feel it coming.

Electric cars will need engine sounds or worse still beepers (like the reversing annoying beepers) emitted from them to ensure that people know that the road is not clear before stepping out into it.

BioEthanol is the way forward and I would happily convert my car to run on this Green Fuel is there was somewhere local to buy the stuff.

Either that or shall we club together and buy a field or two and make our own?

Last I heard a certain big boss chap had a few acres of paddock going spare and a couple of expensive horses to attach to the plough :?:

There's nothing that shouts "Poor Workmanship" more than wrinkles in the Gaffer tape.....

The chances of my wife allowing any of our 'types' on the property again without getting shot by anyone are becoming increasingly slim. The chances of getting onto the horses pastures/paddocks are not worth discussing.

I do know of a cheap few hectares down the road though :thumb:

Ok, where do I start. WOW :o

Just before lunch today I was beckoned out to the front of the shop and greeted by the site of this

Very much similar to the Elise (to my eyes anyway) it looked every bit as good as I had hoped. There was something more appealing about this one too as it was the prototype mule that they have been doing all of their donkey work in. Quite appropriate as this Donkey was asked if he would like a drive! Now I've tried to get into Elise style things before and frankly struggled but the incentive this time seemed stronger. It was only the heavy traffic that typifies Attleboroughs High Street and the full carbon bodywork that gave me cause for concern. Yeah that's right FULL CARBON as shown by the hoop

The interior was pretty good and very familiar to anyone who has been in an Elise or VX220.

Nice supportive seats and simplistic instrumentation. So simple infact, they didn't work! This one had developed a glitch this morning on a 'test' drive, his words not mine :) so I only had the seat of my pants as a vague guide to our speed. The Tesla only uses two gears (high and low) and the car was locked in high gear, once again due to the enthusiastic testing that morning, so effectively the acceleration was not as good as it could have been. Still strong enough to see nothing to around sixty in five seconds flat and no, I'm not kidding. It is so surreal, there is no noise, no drama, just a seemless surge with instant response it appears. The torque figures in a light car just translate as a car that would keep up with mine up to around 60mph. As for handling, well, I had to eat my humble pie. I had started to say that I thought all of the heavy batteries in the back would bugger up the handling when our man grinned at me. It was at that point that I felt a little uneasy. Straightline stuff is a doddle unless I think we're gonna fire someone up the arse but handling 'tests' leave me a little dry in the mouth. I needn't have worried. Not only could the guy drive, but the car could handle. We circled the roundabout with aplomb and disappeared off at one of the exits with a hint of opposite lock and a flourish of wheelspin from the rear. Ding Dong!!

Hang on, I'm forgetting this is all about economy and saving the planet.....or is it? Perhaps this is the compromise, the way forwards. I'm not saying the car will be cheap when it comes out, I have a sneaky suspiscion that it will be circa

Saw this car being reviewed somwhere (can't remember where) a few months ago. Yes it is fast and yes it does handle well and it is a true sports car......But take this thing on track and there is one very important ingredient missing......the soundtrack. One of the biggest grin factors of driving a performance car is the noise it makes and this car doesn't make any. So for me the experience would be somewhat spoiled.
