JAE is definitely more of a social event than anything else. when the sun sets, the party really starts. i had an absolutely brilliant time last summer, touring the stands and ending up at the ScoobyCity karaoke caravan wearing pink goggles and singing my heart out at 3am or so :)

having some activities on a club stand is the way to go. last year there were inflatable boxing rings, pools, karaoke tents, an F1 simulator and god knows what else. plus BBQ's etc

if we all start chucking ideas into a hat right now, we surely can come up with a good action plan for the weekend.

best of all tho, the showground has hot showers :D

Happy to see there seems to be some agreement over this
I must point out one thing before everyone gets enthusiastic
JAE is strictly a JAP show
This year i found this out to my annoyance being told that the renault we turned up in would have to be parked outside :x
Whilst i know at the moment prob 80% of owners will have japmachines i dont want a bad feeling so early in the planning stages
I will, over the next couple of weeks, get in touch with all the powers that be on this forum to have chats over the fine tuning.
I am not suggesting this should be the start of attending every show of the year but it is the Biggest so i feel it would only be right for BIG power to be there.
I think just a Huge tent Huge bbq Huge amount of track biased cars and some trade advertising for our loyal sponsors  would go down fine.
The boys on scooby city and 200 sx have the right idea Show the cars but more important show all the members a good fun weekend.

I must admit, since JAE has moved to Peterborough I have been less impressed with it.

However there was some "action" of sorts, in the form of drifting. They set up a drift track just off of the main site and had quite a bit going on over there.

I do agree that it would be publicity for the club if we could set up the right sort of stand.

The only thing that does bother me is the fact that it is "Jap only" as our club is by no means restricted to Japanese cars and therefor we would not be able to give a true representation of the type of club we are.

The only way we would be able to "show" people what we do is by having a video screen or something set up with videos of our cars in "action" running on a loop which could be quite costly and difficult to do.

Only my opinion so feel free to shoot this down in flames if you disagree.

nik's suggestion of a vid sounds good!!

i do some video editing on my pooter but don't know if its up to BP standard?

i have never been to any of these events ( TRAX this september is it! )

i am assuming this is at the east of england showground?

would USC be a better platform to advertise the forum?

personally i think an event we all try to attend and NOT do any track time will provide a longer lperiod for us all to meet each other?

the forum obviously intends to do track time on semi-professional preportions, would one event hurt to keep your car keys in your pocket?

only being here a couple of weeks, i would probably have to attend every monthly meet and constantly speak to everyone in the 3 hour get together to just scratch the surface knowing the core members.

a weekend in a tent might help matters for most as well as me?

i go into these things with my eyes wide open, as i haven't attended any of the major events put on throughout summer.

i did attend VW action at peterborough and it was a bit static

and before that i went to sant pod for another beetle event ( the one before bug jam? ) and when my kids started asking what those little glass bottles were for, i knew i wasn't where i wanted to be!!

( they were mini smirnoff bottles turned into bongs!! )

i'm easy really. would like to try and attend some of them this year?
