I would also add that a classic Type R or Type RA with manual DCCD actually gives you an added versatility and the new Sti's do have it as an auto (I guess a bit like the GTR) ... when I decided I wanted another impreza it had to be the type r.

I guess i'll make my full opinion on how DCCD works on sunday!.

I'd have an Evo but then I would spend ALL my money at Gary's!! ...

i can always fill you in on evos and what to look out for
Cheers Gary I'll take you up on that advice pre viewing anything. In fact if you hear of/know of any good cars please let me know.

I ought to try the options really. My 5 was quite well modded and it made the 98 Scooby classic that replaced it feel very soft so comparisons by memory aren't really accurate.

I had a 99 uk classic before and apart from the shape is absolutely a different car from the type r - chalk and cheese comes to mind.

Ignoring the handling differences and power delivery, the main difference is the power band, uk classic had such a short window of boost - the Type R pulls all the way to the red - well just below - but top speed is pathetic!.

I prefer the evo over a Subaru, evos feel better built and drive better.
But I do still like a nice impreza, go drive both see what you think

That's interesting Ben as I was wondering about type R or RA. My scoob was a jdm wrx so a 280bhp car plus a few light mods like zortst and induction etc and it never struck me as having a narrow power band so maybe that was just UK cars. Mine was quite happy to pull to the red. Really enjoyed that car

Interesting you put mk2 golf as an option
As said out the box as fun as they are they are slow
Buy one with a 20vt transplant and wallop, wheel spins are us
260-280hp and 300lbs torque in a light mk2 on a standard ko4 turbo from an s3/cupra r/tt etc.. Should be fun in a fwd weekend car/toy plus can look cool

Imprezas iv had a few including , uk,wrx, sti and ra
All good but avoid the uk ones with longer gearing and open diff etc...

Evo I can't comment but I imagine they are great

Think I must be getting old as I just felt a right tit driving around in my last impreza
So bought an s3 :)
Small one's are more juicy
