Hope all goes well for you.
I told Alan to take it easy with our car for the first session. His reply was 'I'll compromise...and take it easy for the first 2 laps'. Good luck with taking it easy:D
Project GTR (zed replacement)
Good luck Christian. Hope the brakes are ok this time. May pop down if i get a chance, but busy most of the day weather dependant.

loving the kit on the top one, although it's just a rener isn't it?
Ironic timing as I'm now beginning the bolt on rear arches like yours / attempt to repair whats left (mainly air) and keep oem look dilema again having spoken to a new bodyshop man about sorting out my bonnet.
Yeah cheers. Dan took a few really good shots of it that day.

Had a look in at Snetterton today to have a look at what was there , some nice old v8 MGBs , Radicals and an old Corvette and some other stuff which looked fast on track .
That was till this came out and passed everything . Good to see it again and would have liked to stay longer but had a busy day . Pete

Well, what a great day. I'm thoroughly exhausted but feeling pretty good. As I said I'm now going to trailer the GTR everywhere and this also helped make the day. I really enjoy a road trip with the "rig" and sitting in the Rangey with absolute tuuuuuuunes blaring through the Harmon Kardons was a far better way to get to snett that driving the GTR, especially since the front wheels are barely on the floor with the new springs, i think previous "how fast can I get on the GPS" antics must now truly be put to bed as the car is airbourne a lot. Which is fine until you want to stop, or steer.
Anyway, arrived a very cold snett with the sun breaking though. Saw safety James who said we had until luncthime until it turned, how right he was.
So a few quiet laps to heat cycle the new brakes, pushed them through grumbly, then juddery, into full operative order with two sessions. Dad had a run out in the car while I caught up with malc who kindly lent me his spare data logger again.
So first proper session and I was very excited as the car was feeling great. Considering how good I thought it was before, transformed wouldn't be too stong a word to use with the new stiffer springs! It was sooooo responsive on the front, with seemingly no roll at all, super darty, almost go kart like response compared to before. To the point where it was making the rear a little "mobile", not that it wasn't before of course.
There was a lot new on the car - spring rates, brakes, map and boost/power levels, solid diff mounts, etc etc - so I was learning.
The car was definately better, but I was sure that I was finding speed in some places - riches was mental with over 150kms on the clock in the corner (grabbed glance at speedo not data) with more to come as I needed to get used the how pointy the front end now was and really work it - and losing it in others - end of the bentley straight into brundle/nelson, the flip side of stiff springs is reduced dive under brakes and thus less grip so I need to re-learn my braking and how much i can hang on them in extremis.
I also quickly learned that I need to think more about loading the car and application of power as if it's not really loaded power can make it wash out more quickly with the stiffer set up, as evidence with an agricultural exiting of Williams
Anyway, I was feeling pretty pleased with myself when I saw a 2:09 dead flash up on the Pbox, a whole second faster than i've gone before and there was definately more to come with more experience of the car.
It was great to see Pete there, sadly without his camero, who said he'd timed a 2:08 with his phone but we deferred to the pbox as likely more accurate. However, Malcolm had a quick look at the Data card which revealed a 2:08.4 which I was really chuffed with. That's a full 1.6 secs better than my previous PB
I'd stiffened the rear shocks up a bit to help with the back end on consultation with Malc (who is rapidly and involuntarily finding himself my set up consultant) and that had helped bring it all together a bit.
Sadly the rain came as predicted by Safety James which meant i couldn't try and improve on that. I did run the car in the PM but it was a real handful in the wet so I was just playing really. It was lighting up it's tyres when it came on (low) boost down Bentley and senna and altho front drive was coming in wasn't quick enough to stop it stepping out, fun, but scary too
Also nice to see Eddy who turned up mid afternoon and foolishly "checked to see" if flames came out of my exhaust in Launch control mode - they did
So, the GTR behaved itself and I'm smiling again. Other observations are that it barely used a drop of oil today, the 4d mapping seems to have helped a lot with the black smoke but not entirely, it's also got less soot up the back, but still sooty (not too sad about that to be honest as I think it looks
until i have to clean it off...). It also hasn't made a huge difference to the fuel consumption. It's better but not massively, however I'm hopeful the difference will be more pronounced when i do a full day of absolutely blatting the arse off it
Wow, what a long post
