Timing on track days

Post by Fast Eddy »

A TDO seems to be introducing timing in the form of a transponder system.

Very nice, but i thought that was politically incorrect as track days are not meant to be timed.

AIUI the ban on timing is down to insurance, so I guess they must have negotiated cover for the chrono days. Notice that they send you the times the day afterwards, you don't get to see them (and try to go for that extra tenth) on the day.

Maybe it's just me, but I'm probably at my *most* careful when going for the best possible lap, hitting every braking marker, apex and exit as well as I can.

Yes, sensible that you do not get to see times until the next day.

I agree, on a 'hot' lap one's concentration tends to be at the max.
