must admit that i'm with Stuart, everyone should use their vote..........an awful lot of people committed a lot to allow everyone the freedom to vote
to not vote as a "protest" i think is odd at min. (your right but my right to disagree LOL)
in the past i have often not agreed with any political viewpoint, and on those occassions i have always exercised my right to vote, just for "none of the above"!!!

If i may add a piece to this and not go over ground aready covered and not get on my high horse about the importance of voting!;)
An option for those that felt they did n`t like any of the parties up for election should have been to "spoil" your ballot paper! In that if you had simply written "i vote for none of the above" your vote WOULD have been counted, but not for the main parties. If the 46 million people eligable to vote had all done so, then surely an accurate picture of people true feelings would have come out?

I voted
We won
But I can totally understand people who didnt vote, as actually there is no single party that has much more than 50% of its policies I agree with, so if there is no party for you to give your vote to then why should you vote for the least worst ??
Its like going to the supermarket for a loaf of bread and coming back with a chocolate gateaux to make your bacon sarnies out of cos its all they had with flour in it !!!
Personally for me an amalgam of more right wing, slightly less tolerant and britain focused policies balanced with a sense of proper morality and realising that they are there to serve us, not cream money off us and run off into the distance would be the party I would support 100% - 1980's Tories with a leader thats actually got some bollocks would be my preference.

I have issues !!!
....I used to be average, now I reminisce !!!

how does that work, did they all turn up at 9.30PM?? in these days of postal voting surely there should be less reason for any queues or delays?? they open at 6.30/7ish on the moring so cant be that everyone finished work at 9 and then tried to vote???Nik wrote:Some of those were apparently not able to vote due to large queues at the polling stations and running out of time to get in them.

Some of the busiest polling stations had steady queues most of the day. Understandable when some of these very busy polling stations only had 4 bods manning them to serve thousands of voters.
Appreciated it's only once in 5 years but there was a much higher than expected turn out of voters, catching organisers unawares. What beggars belief is that some of organisers didn't respond quickly enough or at all in some cases to draft in extra bods to help out.
What people's personal circumstances are none of us know, and i presume they work long hours and have a life as most of us do, therefore if they cannot turn up till late due to commitments they get there when they can.
Is postal voting not usually exclusive to the very elderly, very ill, people with disabilities, or ex pats living abroad. I might be wrong though.
