Quick note to say what a top day Cadwell was on Friday. Weather was kind to us, wet track which made things a lot of fun but at least we were spared the torrential rain of elsewhere!!

It was another top day by the guys at opentrack so big thanks to Dave and Phil - well organised without too many cars, loads of track time and the refreshments made a welcome break and time to chat with other track dayers!! It's testament to the organisers and the quality and consideration of the drivers that despite the slippery track the stoppages were minimal, i think 2 very brief reds all day from memory.

The hotel deal was also a good shout, good to meet a few people the night before over a few socials beverages - and great to meet another BP'er in the form of Datsun Des - nice to meet you buddy and hope to see you on another track day soon!! I think the 4am finish may have been a bit much, as did my friend Ben who threw up in the passenger seat of of another friends Noble mid lap :o) Still, the mobile valeter did a great job of clearing it up so his 3 hour drive back wasn't as bad as it could have been lol!!

All in all a great track day, gonna do my best to make it to oulton park!!

Full face helmets really should be compulsory for passengers :D

Well first off a big thank you to everyone who came on the day

It was a great day from my point of view, good numbers on track meant that people never had to cue to go out on the track at all during the day. And we also had the added bonus of some dry weather, the rain held off until about 14.30 Hrs and even then it was just a sprinkle. The track closed at 16.00 Hrs due to light or lack of it, and there were only one or two minor off's during the day.
Generally there was a good standard of driving by everyone, and with Mike Wilds and Mark Hales doing the Free Tuition for us today anyone that wanted to get some tips were well catered for.
Anyway i would just like to say a big Thank you everyone who has supported us in the past, and i look forward to seeing some of you at Oulton park on the 1st December.
Below is a link to some of the Pictures from today,in a few days there will be some more going up.
Thanks again
Dave.

Well, what can I say? Superb event!

I was initially quite apprehensive, having never done Cadwell before and never done a trackday in the wet. I arrived at the hotel late but was greeted by Dave who introduced me to the other guys in the bar. Nice to meet Monster who told me about his Whifbitz tuned 300zx.

By the morning the rain had stopped and I enjoyed a full english breakfast before setting off for the track. The track was damp, but thankfully no standing water (mildly moist) but I built up slowly as I learnt the track and by midday I was flying round, enjoying the dry line and biblical amounts of grip thanks to the R888's. I remembered something I had heard on TV the other night "You can speed up tidyness but you can't tidy up speed" so I worked on this principle and it served me well.

In the afternoon it starting raining so the dry line disapeared but I was impressed how much grip the toyos still offered once warm. I videoed a couple of my runs in the afternoon and managed the catch Phil Wright spinning off and someone getting a proper tank slapper in an RX8 (he turned off the traction control to see how it was in the wet). I will post up vids later.

I was also impressed that the photos from the event were put on photobucket for us to view and download free, nice touch that as more often than not you have to order prints or Jpegs.

All in all, a great event, well organised and I would reccomend an Opentrack event to people of all abilities, the briefing was good and the courtesy on track was on a par with a Bigpower run event which meant it was a great day with no aggro.

Roll on Oulton Park :)

Here's the first one, I'll set the others to upload and post links later :coolgleamA:

I spoke to the driver of the RX8 and took his email address but I seem to have lost it so if you could point him in the direction of the video once it's online that would be cool.
