Custom Bellhousings

Post by warboys »

Can anyone recommend somewhere to get a gearbox bellhousing made? I want to mate a Maserati twin turbo V8 to a Porsche G50 gearbox if at all possible.

I may be mad, but not that mad! The chassis wouldn't take it, it already has signs of some stress from the engine thats in it!

Its for a kit car, a Foreman Mk4 to be precise.

Although may be rather a late reply, If you are serious about this project then Taylors Foundry at Haverhill can do this stuff, They would digitise the engine to bellhousing bolt layout and the gearbox to bell housing mounts. You sort flywheel clutch release bearing input shaft length etc. They would then do the casting in steel ally magnesium etc, Then machine to required spec and you write the cheque out, And if you had 10 done and sell the other 9 you have yours for free. Win Win situation

Not too late a reply at all, still on the drawing board stage at the moment. Thank you for the input, very useful indeed.

I do have a contact within Taylors gladly help if i can. Five years back i nearly had a batch of 10 Honda K20 (Civic Type R) to Ford Type 9 box bell housings cast then went the Honda F20 (S2K route) so need. But still believe i could have produced a saleable product.

I am still planning my build at the moment and am actuallying thinking about a different power plant as the Maserati unit may not be the most sensible. No matter what engine I use I am definitely using the G50 box.

Mate is building a mid engine GT Car using the V12 ally bmw engine from some old school bmw, mated to a porsche transaxle mated up with a flat 20mm billet plate fine, He has done chassis suspension steering engine driveline and making the buck for the body at the mo. Nice engine though and cheap
