A solution

Post by Stuart »

Hello Ladies and Gentleman

Here is my current scenario and this has been touched upon in a few differing threads;

I would like to fit a regular width bucket seat of a sensible price into the BMW in time for Marham in six weeks. I don't mind whether it is base mounted or a side mount version, but what I do want (or would like) is a cheaper option if possible.

I have my XL width Kevlar/FRP Corbeau Sprint with side mounts that I'd be happy to part exchange if that helps the deal but essentially I need a seat that fits the car and I need one in place within six weeks.

So. What do you have. Obviously I will consider straight forward purchases, part exchanges and maybe swaps subject to what you have.

Thanks guys.

The seat shell you leant me (that I haven't used by the way) would probably be OK mate, but the frame that it is bolted to is massive and doesn't fit. If you don't mind me trying, I'll unbolt the frame and sit that in there for size. I would think that it would be 99% ok. After that I just need to buy or make a base mount.

Yeah, sorry, a passenger seat. The drivers one is fine.

feel free mate , use it if you get stuck , it may be worth checking that the seat is bolted in the right holes on the subframe for the passenger side as i cannot remember which one you had .

cheers

Thanks Buddy

That's a big help. I'll get down there next weekend a have a go at getting that in place. I'll be able to give you a passenger lap too after all of these years :) (Marham on the Sunday)

I'll happily buy this off of you if it fits.

Just lay a picnic cloth down mate and let your passengers sit on it.

Make sure you borrow Bens camera mount and camera when doing so !!!!!

Seriously though, why do you need a passenger seat ?

I get a huge amount of fun out of feedback from passengers Gareth, I love their faces when things start getting quick. For me, I get as much enjoyment out of passengers being with me as I do flying solo.

Me too, having passenegers share the experience is as much fun on your own. I'm not as good as a passenger I tend to either trust people without question or not at all. Not had many pax laps with BP members, Ian200sx is the only one I can think of at the minute he fell into the former. The later is every other of my mates who I've been round with

Seat sold (thanks James) so I'll try Jasons Cobra and look forward to a simple, collaborative solution.
