Pretty sure that these are the ones that Tommy Sti was using before he went for the R888's. He was very complimentary from memory

Yep those are the ones we were using. In summary, they have better grip than all road tyres I've ever used, but only just! The sidewalls are very tough and we've had no 'edge rub out' if you know what I mean. They're really hard wearing as well. I think our set have done 5 or 6 trackdays and there's still a lot of life left in them. We never got to use them much in the wet so can't comment in that respect.
They're classed as a trackday tyre but don't be fooled. Yes they are better than a road tyre (just) but they are nowhere near the performance of the R888. IMO, they are probably the best value tyre available today. I'm considering buying some for the M3.

Yes, they get very good reports, but as tommy said not as sticky as 888's.
I was going to get a set on my M3 for a ring trip as you would not get there and back on a set of 888's.

I beg to differ Eddie. Mine have been utterly superb on Betty. I have done 1000's of high speed circuit style miles on them without issue. The only potential problem is standing water but name a proper track tyre that excels in those conditions?
Or were you referring to the 286 miles on the Autobahns causing too much heat?

Yes Stuart, i think lol.
I think you are saying that you have have good mileage from 888's yes?
My plan was to put RS2's on to drive to the ring, do some laps then drive home with some tread left.
We all know what a superb tyre the Toyo is, but i was concerned about doing all this on one set so i thought the Hankook would be a good bet for this.

Far cheaper and if it rains, more forgiving I suspect

You'd easily get there and back on 888's Eddy - you will hardly wear the 888's out on the track there.Fast Eddy wrote:Yes, they get very good reports, but as tommy said not as sticky as 888's.

I'd stick with the RS2's in case it rains though as the 888's arent the best fun in the rain on an intimidating track like the NL.
