My MR2 poll, what shall i go for?

Personally,

I dont like the alloys on Si's car, they have everything wrong with them I dislike in alloys. The spokes arent distinct, theres no dish, the centre part of the wheel looks like its curved back into the rim like a bowl, and the offsets are slightly weak especially at the rear. Oh and the cars is waaaaay too high and in 17" they just look lost in the arches. Sorry for the absolute hatchett job on your wheels fella but its actually a good example to use. Feel free to call me an ahse at the next meet :oops: :oops:

The rims on the blue modified car look like Work Rezax to me, it looks like you have really big positive offsets on MR2's and hence its difficult to get nice rims in the "drift style" thats in fashion at the moment with big dish. But as mentioned I think CE28 or TE37 would be ideal for this car as they can run with a big offset and still look nice. Anything thats pretty much flat will give you either a little bit of dish if you can buy it with a good offset, especially if like the Works in the top picture they are split rims, and failing that maybe a big old set of BBS LeMans would fit the bill.

Whatever you do please lower the car a foot or so and fit the same front lip as the blue car as that also makes the car sit better and "hunker down" on the road more.

i prefer the jap look deep dish look over the BBS style wheels, but each to their own, however when done properly with subtle body styling they really set the car off

I'd make it look like this, but the gold wheels would be a silver grey with a polished lip

Not taken personally at all I bought the wheels becasue the stock 14" rims were about 5" wide & looked completley lost in the arches, so these 17's were a vast improvment on the overall look & I wanted a more "skeletal" pattern than "chunky" as i was keen to try not to increase the unsprung weight as little as possible. Plus they are marketed as well balanced, strong & a fairly light pattern. This was about 5 years ago now, so asthetically they look dated compared to alot of the current stuff.
To fit any wider wheels either side of the existing hubs I would have had to modify the inner or out arches as there is bugger all room left. I have a friend who sprints a MR2 tubo with these same rims on a set of Tein coilovers & runs it 30mm lower than stock & he's now having to get his arches modified internally so he can stop them rubbing constantly.

I suppose that means you wouldn't want to buy my wheels then :roll: & i guess Si won't after your assasination of them

mod it. the mr2 is an awesome car to mod and theres a lot of scope for it. Kinda still miss the mrs's old one and ive toyed with the idea of getting another turbo once the gt4 has gone.
