Oulton Park Saturday 2nd August

Post by Stuart »

Just a heads up about a forthcoming event that I'd like to try and support.

Steve H runs a forum called Trackaction-online.co.uk and we have agreed to mutually support each others events on a trial basis. This will enable BigPower members access to an even wider range of events and at great prices too.

Here's more info from Steve

'
We're running the drift event using both tarmac rally stages at Oulton on Saturday August 2nd. The stages are surfaced with a low friction tarmac that is designed to be easy to drift on whilst giving minimal wear on the tyres. Each stage has a series of hairpins and sweeping bends that allow beginners and more experienced drivers plenty of chances to develop their drift skills and car control. We are including free instruction for all drivers with two instructors available during the day, including Terry Pankhurst who is well known for his drift and rally skills as well as being the creator of the awesome 500bhp rwd Dimma 206 Cosworth.

The event will be run like an untimed sprint course with cars being released every 20-30 seconds on each course so queueing should be very short and there will be lots of track time available on both stages. Entry price includes one driver and one passenger; there is a race meeting on that day and the entry includes access to the circuit facilities for the driver and passenger, any other spectator will have to pay the standard entry to get into the circuit.

The list price for the day is

The provisional deal is that each forums members can book each others events at the best prices, therefore increasing the spread of events and options for members of the site.

I hope it works well :)

Hi Fellas

Thanks for the comments about the website and BIG thanks fto Stuart for the intro, I crashed one of the threads on here a couple of weeks ago  but he took it like a gent 8) and here we are now!

Trackaction-Online was started up by Phil Lee who actually runs the site, I started doing some events with the guys on there that were being run by Circuit Days and then joined up with Phil to start running our own track and drift days. We still get to a good number of trackdays run by other organisers (next is Croft on July 31st) and I also do a bit of race instructing which means I manage to get on track at least once a week to keep my hand in :D .

In terms of upcoming events, if any of you guys want to come along on our drift day please post your names on the thread and I'll PM you some details and discount codes for booking. This is our first drift day so we are keen to make a good job of it so we can run others in the future so all support will be appreciated! For those who haven't been before, Oulton Park is just one of the best places on the planet; superb main circuit, great spectator points and two super-slippy tarmac rally stages to play on!

These are a couple of photos that I took when I was instructing in Caterhams on Stage 1 a while ago..........

For those of you looking for a late season trackday (this is for you, Andy916!) we have also booked Oulton on November 18th. Our list price for the day will be

Unfortunately, there's a sprint on the Sunday that's possibly preventing a few people from joining in.

Sounds a good arrangement between the two sites though and I for one will be watching out for track days.

Murphys law says there will always be a clash of dates :x Not to worry, there's still a few spaces left if anyone is interested and as you say, there will be other events!

Well we had a great day drifting at Oulton and some of the feedback was pretty good -

In fact it was so good that we are running another one on Saturday September 20th :P . It's going to be the same format as the last one, running on both stages with instruction included and loads of track time available 8) .

Some of the S2000 guys were reporting tyre wear of 0.5mm after doing a full day drifting so it's unbelievably easy on the car and as you'll see from the above threads it's great fun :-D

We will do the same club discount as last time so it's
