Oil advice and recommendations here

Post by oilman »

I get asked many questions about oil so I thought a thread here for all oil related questions would be a good idea and build into a FAQ or reference point for others.

So, put your oil questions here but please give the following information if you would like a recommendation:

Make
Model
Year
Engine size/type

Any mods

Type of use (road/track)

Additional info (max oil temps, current oil used)

What do you want a recommendation for? Engine, Gearbox etc?

I hope this will help and become a useful thread

Regards
Guy

I have a question for you Guy

Are you going to pay to advertise on here or just post surreptitiously in a bid to procure sales through the back door? :D

For the gearbox and diff we recomend the Silkolene Syn5 75w-90, this has been well proven in both road and track FD's

For the engine there is plemnty of choice, many use a 10w-40 semi synthetic and with regular changes this is fine, however for modded and track used rotaries we tend to recomend an ester based 5w-40 synthetic such as the Silkolene Pro S 5w-40.

Alex,

You cannot go wrong with the SIlkolene Pro S 5w-40 so if you are happy with it, stick with it.

For the gearbox you will need an MTF, we have found the Redline MTL and the Amsoil Synthetic MTF have given best results.
