Banking on a spot of good weather for our forthcoming event, I asked Mr Hayward to get me some 888s for the Golf. These are only available in a 50 profile instead of the T1-R's 45, and 50's catch on my arches. I needed a plan...........a plan to cut the arches out :D

In truth this was an absolute doddle to do, even for a fool like me. I simply removed the plastic black exterior arch trim, measured an inch from the lowest point ( I guessed that 25mm higher would solve scrubbing) and started cutting with a grinder. I then used a hammer and dolly to flatten the new raised arch and this flared the arch really well, gaining an inch from the starting point. All that was left after this was to re-attach the plastic arch trim. I'm not that fussed about aesthetics, you'd never guess, so I simply rivetted the trim back on. Sorted!

I drank a lot of cider last night. I mean a lot! I awoke this morning and felt the urge to paint the Golf (too much alcohol is bad kids)

Oh well.........in for a penny, in for a pound!

This isn't finished. Painting outside is very difficult at the best of times. Painting outside in the rain is nigh on impossible. Needless to say, I gave up and called it a day so I'll have to finish the job of another time.

The design was not planned so I'll have to figure out what I do with a bloody great red stripe over the bonnet and do something clever with it :)

Anyway, bonnet, wing and bumper is painted (kind of) 888's are fitted and arches are cut out. Roll on Thursday when I have to teach a few people about corner entry speed :D :D

Nice work there Stu.

Most people shy way from taking a rattle can to their cars but you do it like it's polish

(Aagh the cars looking dirty - where's my spray cans) :-D
