Metal Epoxy Putty

Post by Naughty Magpie »

Where can I get some from short notice tomorrow morning?

Radiator has sprung another leak (I'm not having much luck) & needs a temporary fix. Heading to the Midlands tomorrow midday so needs to be in or around Ely.

Loans of a tube would suffice as well & I'll replace when I get back.

Any ideas?

Brill thanks Lee. Just wish I had some now, in the middle of trying to see where it's dripping from.

I don't suppose you want to put one of the BARS dog turds in to cure it temporarily then or an egg lol (out of the shell).

If you have a halfords near you somewhere they will sell Chemical Metal (by the Plastic Padding people). I fixed a large hole in the alloy sump of a V5 VW Golf a few years back and it did the job well. Cures rock hard with heat and is easy to shape, rub down.

Failing that, if you know someone nearby instead that can braze well enough it would make a permanent fix and wouldn't take very long to do.

Wynns do a very effective rad sealer, bit like the Barr's Leaks but a liquid instead of a faeces. I used Wynns to good effect on my Xantia rad. One application lasted for almost two years.

This is the stuff. Available from most accessory shops and possibly petrol stations.
