Brake Ducts

Post by duncan »

This has been on my list for a long time.

Time to get it off whilst I am in the doing mood :D

First - up on jacks and off with the front wheels to allow access to the inner wheel arch liner. Then having marked a hole hrough the fog light ducts at the front I marked an outline for the exit pipe. Ok this isnt going to be direct onto the disc at this stage but it will blow in the general direction to aid cooling a little.

Then through with the 80mm air con ducting.

Then attach at the front:

Ducts look good dunc but what about an air feed to your filter or are you not having one anymore?

Looking at the charge temps frayz, the APS FMIC seems to be chilling the air quite nicely on its own :)

Went up to see SHP Motorsport in Littleport this afternoon and met with Sunny and Kelvin to chat through what they could do to help give some protection in the meantime and provide a base for adding to it in the future whilst ensuring that it is MSA friendly.

Lots of options were discussed and I was very impressed with them and their honesty in talking through what they would suggest, the price and being able to get it done in time for Donington.

They have suggested the best initial step would be a main hoop and rear stanctions to spread the load backwards and to plate between the main hoop and the B pillar. Along with a removeable rear diagonal.

Because of the road duties and the fact that it is a big step, Sunny suggested waiting to get the front sections done as they can really interfere with how easy it is to use the car and rather than make it a complete compromise now that would need to be taken out or upset MSA scrutineers. We did discuss these though and I am not sure what to do quite yet.

A decision will be made on it shortly in order to book it in to do it.

Thanks for the recommendation Ross :thumb:

Hmm

Ambient is good at -1 deg but when I put my foot down a little it goes down even more to ambient less 4 degrees. They'll be ice forming in it soon 8)

Sounds good Dunc, im assuming you have the green with the 3" inlet and 8cm hotside... how does it feel at your relitively slow pace at the mo?

Yup.

Feels eager to spool even with the extra pipework and volume of the FMIC. Just running actuator at present.
