If you want it for setting the quickest time around a track, it has to be a scoob or an evo. They always top the time sheets in their respective sprint classes. The Impreza has alot of tuner backup as it is the most popular Jap you can buy and hence one of the cheapest with a massive amount of used and pattern parts available.
The brakes are crap as standard and the handling so so but can both can be improved without spending megabucks to make it as quick as pretty much anything else on the track. The downside for me is the fuel consumption is on the insane side for trackdays etc but acceptable for everyday use.
Maybe the best thing to do is get out and try a few different cars, see what suits you best?

And ask how much money's been chucked at them.ESL wrote:But you will want to tune it! Good to be handy with spanners if you have one, but not that bad to work on once you know your way around. One with a decent level of tune is insanely quick, just ask Mike and Gerry who beat all the single seaters (half a tonne with power, aero and slicks) in the dry at North Weald last time out.

Not too worried about on track performance as the car is mainly for road use, holidays etc. I think you,re right in saying I need to try some cars to see what i like. I,ve driven newish Subaru,s 02 onwards through my job and do like them, never had experience of a pulsar although there is a nice standard white one for sale on skylineowners. Thanks for your input guys, keep the suggestions coming. :-D
That is a clean Pulsar Darren but not exactly standard!
15" White OZ WRC Chronos
Nismo Clutch
HKS super power flow
Mongoose with 5" slash cut tail piece
De-cat
Walbro 255 fuel pump
1.1 Bar set with manual boost controller (approx 300 bhp)
HKS/Defi gauges on the A pillar and steering column
CD player
Is the manual controller a bleed valve? This car should be ok at 1.1 bar, but has it been higher?
