Mapping for Methanol in tank

The only downside for me on this is that my turbo will not physically flow any more air so no major peak bhp figures here. Torque should be nice though.

Hmmm - I was wrong.

The turbo doesnt NEED to flow anymore air for up top power gains. It has to be a mixture of increased timing and oxygen in the fuel itself.

Anyway - for the purposes of comparison to before, these are wheel figures. The blue line was what it was doing before methanol using Tesco 99 on monday this week.

The red line is with 10% mix of methanol into the fuel tank with Tesco 99.

Tests done in 3rd gear with no weight/gearing/road alterations.

To work back to flywheel figures:

16% loss: 377 bhp / 433 lb/ft
18% loss: 386 bhp / 443 lb/ft
22% loss: 406 bhp / 466 lb/ft
24% loss: 417 bhp / 478 lb/ft

APT's dyno worked out at 21% loss for my car which by my reckoning just tops 401 pub horse power.

would this work in any car do you reckon, seems like it could be a nice solution to get the sunny a bit quicker, also is it just me or does it looks as though it was smoother in the acceleration as well??

Between 3000 and 4000 rpm it looks as though it cleared it and made it a hella lot smoother

Duncan. be warned when you start to lean on the methanol it will lean out very very quickly. The reason you need more timing is becasue of the increased burn time of the new mixture.

If you are running 10 % of meth in with your fuel the new stoich of the mix is 13.80:1 Depending on how the 02 is set up will depend on how safe you are !!

How high are your injector duty cycles ???

Keep a close eye on your oil !

If you are tuning with tesco 99 i would think the stoich would be differant to 14.7:1 in the first place !
