i'm considering getting a SWB V8 Defender to make my first foray into offroading

5th from the bottom is much more realistic IMHO,

And the winches wont burn out unlike the electric ones !!!

I've been looking for a Diesel 2.5 Jeep Cherokee 1996/7/8, really cheap as i'm going to start making my own biodiesel soon so i can run it free of charge. I know they are gutless but i hear off road, with few external mods like decent tyres, raise the suspension a bit, snorkel and winch, they are OK. The interesting bit for me is that they can run 2 wheel drive as well saving on front tyres.

I used to have a 4.0L auto wrangler Sahara a few years ago and although it was thirsty, it was loads of fun on the dunes and beaches of North Wales.

Any thoughts from you 4x4 oficionados??
