Your Opinion Needed To Solve What Car Next Dilemma

Post by Bealo »

As some of you know i work out of the country on a month on month off rotation. That looks like it could change slightly with me spending even more time working abroad. Added to this my growing love for Thailand :D I'm not spending very much time in the UK.

So i have decided to take the plunge and rent Chateau De Bealo out and sell the toys.

These being my BMW M3 CSL

My Yamaha R1

And my Yamaha YZ450 Supermoto

(if anyone is interested in any of the above please PM me)

But i will still need some transport when i am back in the UK and i have decided to make it a FUN car. Something that i can razz the nuts off on track and totally abuse without worrying about it.

There my friends is where i need your help. I THINK i have made a short list.

1, Classic shape Impreza, STI, RA, Something already pretty much sorted and ready to go.
2, Evo of some sort, again already sorted with the right bit for track action.
3, R32 Skyline with 600 + BHP, this is something i've always wanted but not 100% sure.

I have found a few suitable cars that i like but i think the above 1,2,3 order is the order of preference at the moment.

Please give me your thoughts regarding the pro's and con's on the above cars and if you can think of a car that i've missed, maybe big power Supra?????

Thanks in advance.

I think you would need to allow between 10-15k for something that is fun and durable for fast road and occasional track action. I would also look closely at the earlier M3, the E36 non Evo model like Slarty's just bought and a 968 Club Sport too.

I would say that you need to try and make your mind up on the type of handling characteristics your car should have too. You will struggle to get a permanent 4wd to drift in the dry for example.

You specified an R32 with more than 600bhp. Can I ask what this is based on? Just that 600 is an awful lot on the real world and you may be happier with less, well at least to start with anyway.

My money would but a decent specced Evo 6 Sprint or a well prepared E36 non Evo. Best of luck in your pursuits mate. You should certainly have fun getting this sorted out.

After your CSL I'm not sure you'll enjoy a skyline ... but yes if you were to get one then get one already done ... seeing as you're not around much - why not get Rick to source you monster single turbo machine ... but as stu says I'm sure 600 is a bit impractical - with 349 mine is enough fun - but I reckon aim for 400 - 450 :)

Who is Rick Ben????? I'll have a look at anything aslong as it will put a smile on my face.

I'm a greedy man and knowing that i can have big BHP i will want it.

I have found these two cars, i know they are at different ends of the spectrum and if i was to choose one now it would be the Scooby.

here`s a STi Version 6 RA, perfect for your weekend track car, already partially stripped out,if your wanting to spend about 12K you could buy this put the rest towards some engine MODS and youll have a blisteringly quick track/road car :o
