I was fortunate enough to have a few laps with Gary and the EVO whilst he and Bren were doing their own version of the Rocky movies. I think I joined the fun on their fifth or sixth time out, Bren was grinning like a loon, Gary had set fire to another fleece, Chris was beeming ear to ear after successive passenger laps in each car and Christian looked very nervous. Not a good passenger by all accounts, even less so when he knows the rivalry between these two fellows.
My laps with Gary could be summarised as this;
1) Jeez.......braking.............too.........late
2) Enormous, tree felling grunt from a mere 2.3 litres. Must look into more boost for mine.
3) Zero, I mean no, feathering of the throttle at any point. Full on Bladeyfoot
tm especially notable when reducing the speed from near 160mph on the back straight and turning in on relatively cold tyres into the Esses complex. I expected a proper Beanpotter tyrewall test on the first lap. Mr Hayward assured all was in hand

4) No loss of traction around Corum no matter what line or how much speed was carried in.
5) A barbaric line through Russells, the comfort zone of knowing how well the car has been put together I suppose, because you were the one that did it.
6) Brens gearbox~ a bit surreal but on the odd occasion where Gary wasn't on boost, all you could hear was the harsh metallic whine of the R33, a bit like the music in Jaws when you know you're about to get stuffed by the Great White.
Overall, bloody great. Like a normal trackday, just faster :thumb:
