thanks for your concern :)
when i told my mum what happened, she said "that must have been scary", at which point i thought about it and decided that i didn't have time to be scared, i was too busy keeping the car on the road in a broadly straight line!

i'll know by the end of today wether the ring trip is still on. ive made a tool in the workshop today to fit the takeoff cap properly. ill start by draining any oil thats left in the sump and seeing if theres any pieces of big end shell in there. fingers crossed i will get away with tightening everything up and putting more oil in.

having the fire extinguisher was a blessing, but then again that's exactly what it is for and the reason i always carry one in the car :)

its alive, for the moment. ive removed the relocation bits and put a tiny oil filter on there, changed the oil and all is good.

i think i got away with it big time :)

Well done mate. A lucky escape by the sounds of it, but an escape all the same :thumb:

thats the cap which screws onto the oil filter location to provide the take-off for a relocation kit and remote cooler.

ive phoned thinkautomotive twice today and still havent got anywhere ("someone will call you back sir" - bollocks!) regarding a replacement...

its definitely needed when pushing the engine for any length of time. the stock oil cooling on the gt4's leaves a lot to be desired

it better be!
ive just spoken to a few people at thinkauto and reviewed the pics. ive asked for a replacement part to be sent out FOC (have to wait 2 weeks for them to get stock), or my expenses reimbursed if i can find one locally.

the guy on the phone said theyve got none in stock, which is total bullshit because the part i need (SP1) is the most frequently required part of the entire range they sell. very poor show if they really have none left - somehow i doubt it.

apparently theyre going to phone me back, but its just gone past 5:30 and theyre closed now...no returned call
