Impreza airbag question??? PLEASE HELP GURUS

Post by frayz »

Hey guys..

Im fitting an STI 8 wheel to a 2002 STI 7.

Although the multiplugs on the new loom match that of the olds the wires are different colours..

the old wires are yellow/blue trace and yellow/black trace
the new wires are yellow/blue trace and plain blue.

Im assuming the yellow/blue traces should connect to eachother but when joining the multiplugs they are on the wrong side.. and thus the airbag light is illuminated..

Should i swap the connections to fix the problem?

1 - I am seriously crap at electrics ... ask Zak he will vouch for that one :D
2 - see above

Have you tried speaking to someone like scoobyclinic or Zen performance?

I am sure he will try and help if he or derek knows the answer.

Alternatively, some black tape over the warning light would work ;)

did you have the battery disconnected when you unclipped everything??

if not then this is the reason yout light is on, you broke the circuit...........

sorry not up on the wiring we are normally removing them!!

Yes, i always disconnect the battery. I re-fitted the original bag and clockspring to ensure the light went out.- it did!
Ive since spoken to a guy whos done this and apparently you have to use the original clockspring and splice the 2 looms together.

Looking like thats what ill have to do!

What a nightmare!
