Becareful what you say to each other :)

First conviction for web-rage.

Admittedly it was fistecuffs due to a chat room fallout.

Reminds me of that story of that virtual world game where one player leant a sword to another player online - player sold sword - the player who had lent it to him - flipped out and killed him in real life - these geeks.

So gareth - you better not upset me on import tuner :)

Im like that on ghost recon, mainly because it annoys everyone :-D .

It just brings into light what is obvious, in a chat room you have no idea who you are talking to most of the time. I could take offence to a reply post and flip out and turn up at your door with my katana, obviously I wont(I cant be bothered :P ). But anyone you talk to could do it.
Is it just me, but why would you let your details be known to people in a chatroom you dont know. There's probably only 2 people on this forum who know where I live but I wouldnt want anyone else knowing, just seems silly to me.
Dont get me wrong im not saying its that blokes fault(before someone else says it). He didnt deserve it and its crazy that the other bloke got charged with unlawful wounding and not attempted murder. Just think, that nutter will be out in a year.
Just as the article says;
"The dangers of giving personal information out in a chatroom environment must never be underestimated."

'Friendly' banter whilst playing computer games is expected lol although Xbox Live is full of American kids !!!

Quite worried how Ben has mentioned this...is it a threat to anyone insulting him because he will come round dressed in full combat gear with his machete and guns ?!!!!?

The thing is with all of this - unless you've been really careful when setting up accounts etc I bet you can find the relevant info on a person.

for example you really only need to know someone's surname and general area then using a site like 192.com you can find most people.

It is actually shocking what you can find if you have the tools. For example, using pics with number plates in .. you can quite easily track down where a car is kept.
