One our recent members has come to be to change the poorly engine on his Mk2 MX5. He suggested I took a few pics and posted on here so here goes.

He had the replacement engine delivered to me from the breaker on ebay. Unfortunately, like most breakers, very little care had been made removing the engine and shipping it and it arrived with lots of bits missing and damaged

Day one was slow due to torrential downpoors hampering getting cars out of the workshop and the MX5 in.

Got the car on the ramp and some bits removed

Today, we got the gearbox and the old engine out

Degreased the engine bay and new engine, transferred sensors, throttle body and other missing/damaged bits over from the old engine and dropped the replacement engine in

Old clutch is on it's last legs so fitting a new one to save labour later when it finally gives up.

Nice going, just sorry to hear that he needed a new engine just after getting the car.

Yup, it was a major disappointment and managed to do about 5,000 miles on the old engine before it almost totally gave out at Eddy's! Unfortunately I wasn't expecting an engine change so soon! :banghead:

Nice work Eddy, look forward to picking it up tomorrow.

Always love the look of new parts. New engine runs smoothly, next up is to paint the rocker cover and install blue silicone hoses.

Yes, new engine did seem to run well. Car seemed to pull well when I took it down the road too.

We can get rocker covers powder coated and do SFS hoses like this one we did.
