monthly meets ideas

Post by Mr Fletcher »

i feel that this is an issue which needs addressing over the dark and miserable winter months. what can be done to increase the attendenceat the monthly meets as i fear the venue will possibly be no longer be financially viable too remain open in the evenings for us and i for one don't do supermarket car parks! i can fully appreciate work and family commitments along with distance to the venue are all contributing factors but i think that we as members should try and make some suggestions as to what could be done to resolve this issue before it goes pear shaped and all the hard work done so far is wasted . maybe we could look at the possibility of having people doing a talk or tutorial on specialist subjects such as in car video , data logging ,photography , tyre management , aero dynamics.even a quiz night could be a laugh or bring along some
laptops and we'll have a gaming evening . please feel free to move this if it's in the wrong place .

cheers

Thanks for bringing this up Jason.

I look forward to seeing the ideas and, more importantly, the subsequent implementation of them.

Very good idea indeed Jason.

I don't know if we could rig up an Xbox 360 or two and have Forza 2 challenges or something like that. I would be willing to bring my 360 along if it is something that we could implement.
I may be getting older but I REFUSE to grow up :D

Yes we need to do something to boost attendance this time of year.
I thought there were plans to do some specialist tutorials throughout this year anyway.
How about another autotest to boost the meet attendance. They seem to go down very well and would be even more fun in the dark lol.

The talk/tutorial is a great suggestion as it means it would be inside, in the warm, as opposed to freezing your bits off.

Suggestions, fwiw

Toyo tyres: May be interested in a promotional presentation, in the black arts, as they seem to be into motorsport?

Performance Friction: Would they stop by and give a talk on brake pad/disc choice?

The local suspension/chassis tuning guru who Stu speaks so highly of, to bounce a few ideas around?

Maybe a local tuning company would care to offer a few pearls of wisdom into the mix, eh Gary?

Another solution is, that those who do attend, eat and drink more :-D
Handle every stressful situation like a dog. If you can't eat it or hump it, piss on it and walk away!

I wonder if any sponsors/speakers might donate some prizes to be raffled off, and in return for said prize donations give us a good talking to/pearls of wisdom on varying subjects.

For example: APT might want to donate power runs :D:D:D at a dyno day with raffle tickets at say a fiver each and proceeds going to a good cause. Then APT get to give our ears a good seeing to on the virtues and benefits of using their wonderful dyno :D

Same for Zen Performance, maybe they would donate a mapping session :D:D:D or geo setup, service etc... :D:D:D or something of that ilk and talk to us about the benefits of etc..etc.... Again raffle tickets at
Buggers cancelled my op just a couple of days before it was due. Inconsiderate barstewards!!

We did table the ideas of the talks early in the year but the amount of work that is already put in by the admin team in organising BP events, keeping the club going (and growing) and life outside BP meant that they had to be shelved. They require a lot of time and effort to put together. However, if there were volunteers to do these ..... ;)

I'd be happy enough to do a talk on how to kick ass at computer games :P

Thats all i'm good at really so :)
This sounds like a great idea though.
