Surround Sound setups

Post by RX7 »

Guys,

Went to Comet today and saw a 360 running with Project Gotham on a 5.1 surround sound setup.

Looking for something similar for playing games plus also watching films.

The 360 has a Toslink adapter...no idea what this is.

Anyway what setups do you guys have ? (not just for the 360, for your dvd etc systems !)

Cheers,

The 'toslink' adapter is a optical lead. It will go between the 360 and your choice of surround equipment.
You have 2 choices from here, either the separates route or the 'all in one' systems.

Generally the separates are better in terms of:
Connections (loads...)
Power (they typically have significantly more than all in one systems. All in one systems are normally measured in a power called PMPO, where as separates are watts per channel/RMS. I often find all in one systems to run out of steam well before its at my desired level) With more power comes better sound quality. I can go into this is you wish :)
General sound quality
Features (loads on separates)
Upgrades, if desired you can upgrade any aspect of you set-up, as and when you want-where as, all in one systems are 1 box units.

The down side is that separates will cost you more in the long run, as you need a amp, speakers and leads.

What do you want from it? Is it a big room? Are you wanting to play it loud? Do you have anything else, sky? Freeview? PS2?.........

I have a bose life style system and i have to say i'm very pleased with it.
Nice discreet speakers, big sound with good clarity. Does both my surround sound and my stero, with a 6 disc player...
I'm sure purists would find fault, but i would definelt look at another if i ever consider renewing!
Take regular exercise, walk to you car!

Cheers for the posts guys,

I found this:
http://www.play.com/Electronics/Electro ... type=genre

Seems like a cheap buy.

To be honest its only for a small room and for xbox 360 and dvd playing.

Saw one in Bonds today (
