Cycling Proficiency Training

Post by duncan »

Got my training tomorrow to become a Cycling Proficiency Trainer in our local school.

It seems that they have not been able to run these for several years due to lack of volunteers and I dont think that is right... kids should get the chance to be taught safe riding/road skills.

Anyway, rather than moan about the situation and what are the school doing to get volunteers like every other bugger does, I put myself forward and tomorrow is the day I take my training. :D

Wow... that is so good of you to do that

How did you get involved???

Nice to see someone putting them selves out for the youngsters.

Well done

Apparently most schools are begging for volunteers and the cycling proficiency training that we all did as kids is fizzling out. If you ask at your local primary school whether they run the training, most cant/dont run it now.... sad.

Now, I know that it isnt the most complicated test, but it should be the start of road awareness and form part of the long and never ending learning curve for when they take driving lessons, ride motorbikes, drive performance cars etc.. the principles are the same IMO.

wheelies, rolling endos, stoppies, and bunny hops, skids, flik flaks and the like will now be part of the national curriculum :D

might even get a ramp set up so that i can try and beat my record of jumping 9 people on my grifter.... those were the days :)

do you think they will want me to teach the kids?

Raleigh Chopper

That was a real mans bike - if the gear lever didn't remove your appendages - you'd flip over backwards and stove your head in
