Insurance....always worth asking for more discount

It's that time of year again when the insurance on the Land Rover was due for renewal. The renewal quote (fully comp for myself and my wife) came in at around £390 with all No Claims Discount and driving qualifications factored in, however we figured we'd see if they'd offer further discount as we had recently insured my wife's MPV with the same company.
After a minute or so the lovely lady from the insurance company said that there may be scope for up to a further 15% discount as we had two cars insured with them.
She asked if she could put us on hold whilst she went to speak to her manager, we waited for a couple of minutes and then she came back with a renewed quote of £270 and asked "Would we be happy with that?"
Um, yes please
I haven't worked out the percentage discount but I'm pretty sure it's significantly more than 15%

I'm moving up a Welsh mountain if your getting quotes like that for the Landy

Try doubling that and that's what I pay for the Explorer. Although I have got it insured as a motorsport support vehicle which gives automatic cover for race clothing, tools and spares to an agreed value.

Location must play a big part, in fact the only thing that this policy doesn't include is 3rd party cover for driving another vehicle which we didn't really need as our other vehicles are insured individually anyway.
I'd hate to think what premiums are like these days in places like London, I know I used to pay a stupid amount back in the late 90's when I lived in Belfast (though I suspect that was more to do with the high risk of riots and increased chances of being left 'special presents')

I've noticed that a lot of policys dont give 3rd party cover anymore for driving other cars. Just another way of screwing more money out of us.

I have to say I had a similar suprise with my insurance company recently I was offered a very competative rate then another great rate for a 2nd car...
I think they have started to realise that customers vote with their feet and go elsewhere when there not happy and these companies need to start being better at treating loyal customers fairly.

Renewing with Admiral this year. £670 quote with 1 year NCD on the MX-5 1.8. Not bad I don't think? Comparison sites wanted £1200+
