The spec isn't far different - my comments would start that gopro obviously have a massive budget for advertising which doesn't necessarily mean it's a better camera, that said I've been happy with my gopros and I've had two Hero's, one Hero2 and one Hero3 Black, the Black has been a bit of a let down, the video quality is amazing but the battery life is only about an hour so I carry two batteries. My hero2 has about 4 hours battery life.

There are alot of useful accessories for the Gopro though.

I've also got an older model veho muvi and it was seems bit dated in technology - ok video but poor sound.

Digging this thread up again for some GoPro 3+ related info.

I've heard of sound quality issues with these (more so than the older models), which I presume is related to the camera rattling slightly in the casing being picked-up by the internal mic?

A customer of ours has recently bought one and was using it while testing on Thursday and has complained about the "clicky" noises he's getting. You can hear it throughout the clip-

From what I've read, the best solution is an external mic. Any recommendations or other tips? :D

Edit- I officially give up trying to embed a poxy youtube vid. It's not having it no matter how I try to do it.

So, I've bought the black frame for mine - so it now is only held on the outside edges.

There is no hole for a mic but the camera does not suffer the sound issue.

So if in care and using a skeleton or standard shell then plug a mic in.

Give me a few mins and i'll upload some test footage for you.

Surely the click is due to the camera being mounted to the cage and it's flexing?

I've always found even with my GoPro HD 1, just handling the camera in it's case was enough to make the noises. Padding it in tighter seemed to reduce it, although it would still happen occasionally.

The sound quality of the "frame" you have does seem much better. We will have to let him decide what he wants to do- either buy the new casing, or a mic and 3.5mm adaptor.

Cheers Ben. :)

I reckon the mic would be a good call as you could run it nearer to the engine and get some proper sound.
