I've been looking forward to this one for a while now
thankfully it looks to have been very well made and Wahlberg has the look of Marcus Luttrell down to a 'T'

I hope that the film doesn't over do aspects of the story (although I have only read news articles and snippets so I probably have no idea what the real story is anyway!)
The trailer looks great and Mr Wahlberg is usually a sound bet for an enjoyable movie. Thought he was excellent in Sniper too.

The general gist of the story is that several years ago a 4 man SEAL SR patrol inserted on target, their OP position proved to be pretty poor and was subsequently compromised by a small group of Afghan civvies who the SEALS detained for a short while.
Following a majority decision the civvies were released by the patrol. Unfortunately once released the civvies once went and informed the mooj' of the Patrols presence. The mooj' then went out in force and rolled the patrols position up.
The SEAL team fought a fighting withdrawal down the mountainside getting picked off one by one until Marcus was the last man standing.
He was taken in and protected (to a certain extent) by Afghan village elders who refused to hand him over to the Taliban.
During the fighting withdrawal the QRF/ARF who were sent in to locate and extract the SEAL team was shot down with all on board KIA.
It's one of those stories which is very similar to the old B20 tale but is told without the Chris Ryan/Andy Mcknob bullshit spin
I think it will be a good one, though when I say Wahlberg has the Marcus Luttrell look down to a 'T' I mean other than being over a foot shorter and 5 stone lighter obviously....

The book is excellent, not sure how it will translate to a film

I've just watched this with my wife after missing it in the cinema and having to resort to buying the DVD. Outstanding film and I highly recommend it.
Unsurprisingly it isn't able to cover all of the detail in the book but it's a very well produced movie with all the right bits in the right places, I particularly like the fact that the production team kept a tally on how many mags each member of the patrol had used throughout the firefight scenes in order to avoid the unlimited Hollywood magazine scenario.
It was also good to see Marcus doing his cameo bit, definitely one to watch.
